Is it that bad?
The majority of complaints about the ele class comes from the tPvP community, where ele’s are pretty much outclassed by everything, have very limited viable builds and generally don’t fit well into teamcomps.
Good to hear cause I really like the class but reading the forums gets me to wonder if I should finish the grind to 80.
They’re not exactly shining in PvE or WvW, but at least they have a solid role in those categories.
As long as you don’t plan to take TPvP seriously, go ahead and keep leveling.
What level for interest sake, because the upscaling starts to drop off quite drastically.
An Ele friend of mine took his uplevelled from lv2 ranger into WvW and was sitting at ludicrous stats, beating fully geared lv80 Warriors without having unlocked all his weaponskills yet.

i don’t care what others say. i’m enjoying my ele a lot and i’m almost always logged on him. he’s my 4th character.

I just hit 40. I’m going to stick with him, its a fun class. Thanks for the replies and I’m glad that most the issues are in Spvp, I don’t do it so np there.
Spvp gets very boring after a bit while due to its limitations for build variety. In pve, WvW solo, small group roaming and specially in zerg the ele completely shines but it needs to be played right.
I really enjoy playing my Ele (although I almost exclusively play WvW). Sure you can probably find other professions that do various stuff better, but Ele is fun to play. And that’s what we’re all here for I suppose, fun.

well without even trying to tell my opinion i would gladly suggest you to check profession requirements and builds for T1 zergs in organized guilds….
Tell them ele is useful outside being a buffbot with few cc.
Or even better tell them you are playing with your D/D ele
P.S. btw ele is indeed fun
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
A few realities from a WVW perspective:
- most people consider Ele to be a healbot and you will be expected to run staff and drop water fields on call
- you’re one of the worst solo roaming classes (mainly because of inability to escape from many classes)
- you’re target #1 for any melee train because you can wreak a lot of CC havok with staff and you’re really easy to kill
