Is my armor still viable?
For PvE ele, there is only Zerk/scholars & ascended zerk trinks/weps. So your current armor is completely useless. Sorry.
You might still be able to use it for WvW. I use knights/cavaliers mix for WvW, so you could save the knights. The PVT though, I’d just salvage it. d/d bunker has been severely nerfed, so it’s pretty useless. I’d get some cavaliers, mix it with your knights, and go burst instead.
My armor is karma armor so I can’t salvage it :/
I’ve seen some people run a cleric’s s/d build, crazy healing on that
PVT is at least the best armor for tequatl and many world bosses also some dungeon bosses (TA up and FW/FW) plus is viable in WWW.
For other dungeons zerk would be better and if you play dungeons you will have your new armor in no time….
Or you could wait for ascended armors.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
For Anierna, there is only Zerk/scholars & ascended zerk trinks/weps. So your current armor is still sufficient.
Made a slight alteration to your statement.
You’ll do just fine with PVT. It gives you some room for making mistakes, and not going down everytime a critter looks at you funny. Once you get the hang of dungeon mechanics, and feel you are ‘overprotected’, then you can start to swap in some more damage gear.
Yes, zerker will be faster, but PVT is more forgiving…and probably a better choice if you’re not a diehard (ele) player.
Or you could wait for ascended armors.
That’s an excellent suggestion. Ascended armor is expected before the end of the year (the items are already in the game, you just can’t get them yet). So it’s probably more efficient to just wait for that.
Indeed, you can do all the content in the game with that gear. The only people who won’t want you are dungeon speed runners and the like. And everyone knows a dead ele does 0 dps. In fact, you’ll probably be a better member than an ele in full zerkers that has to get resed all the time. The modern builds that don’t build full dps are more or less the same as they used to be.
And unless you play another light armor class or have a pile of gold ready to level your tailor to 500 when it’s released, exotics should get you by just fine until you’re ready to craft the (probably) time-gated materials.

Unfortunately the fact that dead ele deals 0 dps doesn t change the fact that almost in every dungeon fight you will be oneshot in zerker as in PVT ….
The difference is that being in zerker you will burst stuff and thus suffer less Attacks.
Not to mention with a second zerk set you can mix pieces according to situations….(i admit that ele full zerk is quite difficult sometimes….having a couple pvt pieces to swap is awesome)
Once you learnt how to play dungeons zerker is easier not harder.
Yet you need more than an armor to play this game since there are different gamemodes.
And while a zerker is totally the best in most istances, in Others situation having a PVT is optimal.
That means that even if you already had a zerk armor you would probably get a second PvT…..
Also the easiest dungeon in the game gives the armor with the stats you want….
So start playing your cof 1-2 (120 tokens day)
P.S. suggestion:
Structures and most BIG sized bosses are immune to critical hits.
Thus while power is still awesome, precision and crit% is worthless.
That is where you equip your pvt (tequat for example).
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

I’ll admit I have done most dungeon paths only a few times (still missing a random hotw path for my dungeon master title), except cof and then arah for my bifrost which I haven’t touched since I crafted it. My fractals level has been 27 since January and I have never played the revamped AC. However, I don’t really remember a whole lot that literally one shot me. I might have brought down to very low health, but not ohko from full hp. PVT allows mistakes to be made on those encounters that won’t one shot you.
On that note about structures, pvt is indeed optimal for tequatl. However, you can do just fine in zerkers standing inside the zerg if you’re able to dodge waves and avoid poison since zerkers is also a power main stat. All the other WBs are still braindead spam 1 in the zerg so zerkers is fine too.
