Just a few questions
Use all 4 elements, switch regularly. Otherwise you’re doomed to fail. Go do other lowlevel zones to levelup if you’re underleveled.
The favorite element question is just for your starting “helmet” so it’s not important at all.
You should switch between elements constantly in combat, it’s the class mechanic, to use the most of your spells to unlock the potential of the class, also some traits has benefits for that and it’s practically necessary for combos.
According to leveling, you can try to do more Dynamic Events, search for them, or crafting is nice boost to experience too. Or you can WvW, but prepare to get beaten in there on low lvl :-)
Your favorite element at the character creation is just a cosmetic case It affects a type of one of the starting equipment pieces.
- You should get used to swapping attunements, since you’ll be much more effective using all of your skills in any given fight. Especially as a D/D.
- XP in GW2 doesn’t just come from hearts and your personal story. You get it from doing dynamic events that pop up on the landscape. You get it from exploring, mining nodes, resurrecting players and NPCs, crafting, building things in WvW, and kills themselves.
Of course if you just want to do the hearts, you could always go to one of the other 4 races lv1-15 zones. To do that, go to the icon with crossed swords in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Click to go the heart of the mists. There will be a portal there that will take you to Lion’s Arch, pretty much the commerce hub of the game. There will be a ring of portals there that will take you to any of the other races’ capitols. The starting zones are just outside. - Your favorite element only determines what the headpiece you start with looks like.

Thanks guys ! for the quick replys! I guess i will continue to walk around and do more events and learn to swap between the elements.
Yeah attunement swapping is the way! I’m at your lvl now using d/d and you can get 15 stacks of might by using fire 3 4 then earth 4 5 and arcane blast as a utility, I’m still new with the ele but it seems the class was ment so that attunements must be use to combo with each other…….. You’ll notice that there are no combo fields and finisher in the same attunement……. so swap and kill
Just wait till you get to higher levels… Instead of worrying about which element to be in, you’ll spend time frustrated that the cooldowns on the element swapping is “soooooo long” (and with arcane traits it drops it quite a bit, I think you can get your CD on element swapping down to like only 6 or 7 seconds, at least that’s what mine is at). I get in, drop my skills, swap, do the same, swap, etc… and by the time I’ve cycled through I have a second or two left to wait till I can start over…. soooo frustrating
Also, as you get higher up, you’ll learn that ele’s shine best when they’re focused on dropping aoe boons and buffs on self and team… that’s where we really stand out, stacking might and fury, aura’s, etc.
Look closely at your fields and finishers. Plan your element swapping to do as many combos as possible.
