Heyhey.

So i just hit lvl 80 finnaly, mainly a WvW player.

- But i got a problem, My traits are not that good, no idea whats good atm?
- Best weapon set for WvW. used to play with staff but got 1shoted by evrything that moved. (see a lot of topics about ele’s being bad )
- is it smart to spend my 300k karma on gear or what is the best way to spend it?

Ninja-edit: is there a way to spec a bit defensive, since i take alot of dmg>

You can always be a 0/10/0/30/30 support/tank ele, but expect to hit like a tree twig waving in the wind.

Personally I like the 0/15/10/15/30 build. Has a bit of defense, with a good amount of offense. It is a little more risky than the first build I mentioned though.

I run D/D by the way.

S/D is good as well if you want to be bursty. If so, run a 0/30/10/0/30 or 0/30/0/10/30 build.

Few random notes:
- 20 Water 20 Arcana good starting point
- 30 Water only good for support builds
- Fire is weak unless you go all in
-10 Earth for Earths Embrace is strong defensively

There are a few decent builds floating around this board, so look around.

Note that the uplevel scaling in this game is terrible, so just being 80 (and geared as 80) will help alot.

Get exotics asap. Karma isn’t particularly valuable anymore so if it makes your life easier spend it, but throw rares away the instant you get enough badges for exotics. If you already have rares but low toughness its probably worthwhile to pick up a few PVT karma pieces at least.

You will never be able to take huge amounts of damage, because eles do wear light armor. Learning where to be/not to be and when is important. Learning to use your buffs at the right time is important, specifically protection for defense.

Gear and spec for toughness and vitality if you are too squishy: PVT/Knights, Earth and Water traits. Signet of Earth is also a nice boost to toughness.

Try out a build site like http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/elementalist/ to see what different gear combinations do for your stats. If you’re short on resources it will be better to see how things turn out before spending anything.

Best advice is to re-roll a warrior or theif or engineer or necro or mesmer or gaurdian… well not a gaurdian but everything else is better than an ele.

First off. Lol at this post. Ele is one of the best classes for wvw in the game.

Second off. Definitely spend your karma. Buy PVT gear from the temples. Here’s a couple ideas.

For Zerging, go pvt with Boon duration runes(2 Superior Monk runes, 2 Superior Water runes, and 2 Major Water Runes). Go 0 10 0 30 30(I or VI; III, IX, XI; V, VIII, XI) spec with staff. Use Ether Renewal, Cantrips, and whatever elite you like(I lean towards Elemental). This is a very cookie cutter build. Staff is the best zerg weapon by far. The fields that are available for a staff are unparalleled. Do whatever you want with the stats on your trinkets and staff to fit your needs. Stay at 1200 range, know your skills inside, outside, and upside down, and win with your superior aoe. The big fields to really understand how to use are Healing Rain, Frozen Ground, Static Field, and Lava Font.

For roaming, go with either Scepter/Dagger or DD. Builds can vary a lot here depending on what you want to do. I wouldn’t recommend specing into fire at all. Go at least 20 points in Arcana and Water, then through the remain 30 around as you please. I would always grab V in Arcana and either VI or IV. Lots of really good traits in the other areas, play around and see what you like and how you’d like to play =)
