Did lava tomb ever increase the damage Lava Font did, not just when you were downed? i thought i remember seeing something like that a while ago.

No, only increases your downed damage by 33%, which I thik hasnt been removed. Lava tomb is probably your most “useful” thing in sPvP though, considering that our death is a given, the best you can do is position yourself in a tactical place and have a nice telegraphed, medium hitting spell which will tick for 10 seconds.

Lava Tomb spec is as follows:
30/20/0/10/10, staff, zerk amulet, scholar runes. Lightning Flash into the middle of max enemies, blow Armor Of Earth + Arcane Shield to avoid all interrupts > Lava Font > Meteor Shower > another Lava Font > accept your death > Lava Tomb > hilarious AoE for anyone who was stupid enough to stand near you

Here’s the actual best build:

30/20/10/0/10 staff, zerkers, ogre runes

I did something similar in hotjoin before the patch though
30/20/0/0/20 (final shielding, not elemental attunement) staff, zerkers, arcane shield, arcane wave. when some poor noob glass thief jumped on me I would literally explode between the arcane shield(s) exploding, arcane wave, lava font, and the downed lava font, so even if I got downed, they would be downed too and die an instant later. It was pretty hilarious

Lava font on down is a very real and effective build. Primarily useful in wvw, due to the ability to mist form into keeps, and rally while in mist form in large zerg fights.

I actually do use it on my serious (offensive) builds in any PvP setting so that people can’t stomp me. and also it lets me auto-win any close duels. if we both go down at close to the same time, I win

I’ve even downed and rallied off people on my own, since sigil of fire gets boosted too. bursting someone for 4k with my skill 1 downed attack is hilarious

I agree the lava tomb trait in WvW can create some hilarious experiences
