Let's fix Elites
elites IN GENERAL are pretty terrible in this game
when you wish you could slot another utility skill instead of an “elite” skill, something is wrong
signet of elements seems awesome though. it’s pretty much perfect. warrior doesn’t need to be the only one with a signet elite. might need to do something about Written in Stone when adding it though
i for one am simply appreciative they allowed flame sword cast while moving and am thoroughly glad i don’t get murdered while casting it anymore
Our elites don’t need that much, really.
Tornado: Have it destroy projectiles like Swirling Winds and it will be much better. I mean … aren’t tornados swirling winds after all?
Glyph of Elementals: The elementals should provide pulsing boons in an AE around them based on attunement. The boons would be 6s duration and pulse every 6s (10 pulses over its duration) in a 360 radius around the Elemental.
- Fire: Might
- Water: Regeneration
- Air: Swiftness
- Earth: Protection
What we really need is an Elite Signet on a power scale equal to warriors:
Cast Time: 1 second, Cooldown: 60 seconds.
Passive: Range of all attacks increased by 300 units.
Active: 90% reduction to attunement recharge rate for 30 seconds.
80 Necromancer (IRNY), 80 Guardian (IRNY)
GW2: it’s like DAoC, but for the WoW crowd.

We deffinitely need a low-CD ultimate so we can use Lyssa with it. I’m so tired of dying to condi spam
tornado is www fgs..
cast meteor shower, turn into tornado…double the damage of meteors.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Signet of the Elements:
- Passive: Grants 20% boon duration
- Active: Grants an aura depending on your attunement
- 45 seconds cooldown
I still can’t fathom how we don’t have a single utility skill that grants us auras when they are supposed to be our active defenses.

-Grants an aura depending on your attunement sounds like a glyph, but nice idea anyway

I adressed this and i believe this will be nerfed or even fixed completely.
Please do note that every class is balanced around its entirety. Meaning the fact that our elites are lackluster is a part of the way our class is balanced. You can’t say you demand an elite as gamechanging as thief or engi. Just because their elite is this strong doesn’t mean we’re entitled to an elite that is equally strong.
inb4 rage and ‘ele isn’t balanced’. I know that, that’s not the point.
Btw, fgs is a worthy elite now that you can cast it while moving. It can be extremely potent in sPvP to instapop a downed person (and the one ressing him) with fiery rush+lightning flash. Also useful to burst immobilized targets or people ressing others.
FGS 5 does very nice damage over time as well. Drop it on a point or a downed person for very good pressure.
FGS 3 gets you out of anywhere. Remember you don’t need to face your target for the autoattack, this can make a big difference
It can be extremely potent in sPvP to instapop a downed person (and the one ressing him) with fiery rush+lightning flash.
How does that work actually? I’ve often seen people talk about combining FGS with Lightning Flash, but how does that work in practice?
It works like using FGS against the wall. Except for a slight trail of fire. I often use it to get the kill credit for world boss events :-)

Use fiery rush untargeted and blink on top of your target right after. You will be running in place at target location and have the trail stack up where you’re standing like when you rush into a wall.
a well known bug exploit is what it is. like tornado + meteor shower, only more extreme
Delete them, give another utility slot.
Once upon there was a story mode quest that took you to Lion’s Arch to battle a Priest of Death (forgot the name) and you turned into some cracked up uber-ele. Think Warrior rampage on steriods using a mixture of dagger and fiery greatsword fire skills.
That was epic, I’d pay 1000 skillpoints for that as an elite.

Honestly, it costs you your elite + a strong defensive cooldown, and if you happen to hit retal, you’re dead. Only works on stationary targets too. If this wasn’t possible fgs wouldnt be worth taking over glyph.
Meh, tornado + any long duration damaging effect isn’t a bug. Exploiting game mechanics, sure, but nothing it does is a result of a glitch of any kind. Tornado triples base power, which makes any attack hit harder, including ones placed before it starts.
While I guess we should be grateful that the FGS and its “Ability 4 without target against wall” makes us more desirable for dungeons, I am personally quite bothered that it exist. It’s truly silly that you have to “exploit” a skill/weapon to optimise it’s effect, but again, that is just a drop in an ocean of bugs.
Tornado is really cool which is why I think it deserves a buff, More damage would be obvious, and maybe better debuffs as well or protection for your allies.
Even cooler: Replace the boring “pick one out of 3 abilities” actionbar with a new 5-skill actionbar, so you can actively play as a Tornado. Example:
1. Strike the area with a lightning bolt (X damage, vulnerability)
2. Blind nearby enemies (Blindness)
3. Knockback your target with a windblast
4. Grant swiftness to allies and cripple enemies
5. Unleash a storm to damage and fumble enemies
