I’ve been absent from GW2 for most of the time since release, only logging in occasionally every few months to grind out some levels or roll a new character. As a result I’ve been kicked from the few guilds I’ve been invited to, so I don’t really have anyone to go to as a mentor. I’ve just hit 80 last night, it happened during the “Megadestroyer” world event in Mount Maelstrom which was some good fun.

Now I want to continue clearing zones and world events in the top level zones, but firstly I would like advice for a solid survivable world event (zerg?) setup in terms of equipment and traits/skills. So far I’ve been using S/D with zerker gear (30/20/10/10) and Lightning Hammer for “I can’t handle this without unleashing the noob hammer” moments. Which has worked quite well, except Dragon’s Tooth can be pretty irritating with its delay sometimes.

I’ve got very little gold and I just wanted to double check before going and blowing it all on zerker rares.

Importantly, I have no idea where to spend any of this stuff (see pic) and what on, or if I should be saving it for later.

Thanks for your time.

When it comes to world bosses, soldier’s is the best, since you cannot crit on world bosses.

However people don’t generally buy a gear set for world bosses alone because it frankly isn’t hard to do and even if you go down that shouldn’t be a problem.

Generally: save karma and laurels, spend everything else on getting equipment. I would not advice starting with full zerkers. Get soldier’s armor and zerker trinkets, and work from there.

Being a zerker elementalist, my advice is not to melee the world boss. It may sound funny because I melee the whole way in dungeons. Yes, you shouldn’t melee the world boss. They are swamped with so many particle effect that you won’t be able to see tells and dodge or react in time. If I’m in a big train, there is more lag in melee range.

I suggest you use staff camping in Fire Attunement and conjure Frost bow to any bosses that have a large hit box like the Mega Destroyer.
