Don’t you wish that Lightning Flash worked …If the height is different by a mere ….almost nothing ..few cm ….you can’t flash XD

If it would work like that, from “platform to platform”, Eles would have no hard time doing any jumping puzzle. I think the skill is awesome the way it is now, it has good enough range, its instant, and it breaks stun. The CD aint too long either.

You know Mesmer can use their portal skills to a similar effect to make the jumping puzzles simpler for other classes and themselves. Don’t see why we can’t have one.

Thief shortbow #5 skill works up ledges at least, which should allow you to bypass quite a lot of certain jumping puzzles.

The only thing it is good for is wvw and spvp as a confusion or escape skill. It serves that purpose very well, but I see little reason to have it during pve play.

Yes, it is a complete waste.

It can’t hop over gaps. Can’t jump up on areas that I can actually access with a jump. It can’t even go very far.

Comapare it to a thief’s Shadowstep. If you jump down a high cliff with it, one that would usually chunk half your life, you can avoid fall damage with it.
You have an option of returning to his original position. And in doing so, he cures three conditions.

Lightning Flash has half the range and can barely do anything better other than do pitiful damage with it.

But since I’m 80, I got it anyways since I have nothing else better to spend it on.

the engineer skill Jump Shot can do jumping puzzles easily too

It seems to me that its more of a bug. I mean because every other class that have a very similar skill can do it. i suggest reporting it as a bug.

Lightning Flash (and especially the Mesmer equivalent) should teleport you max range if you try teleporting to outside of its max range, then it would be a great spell.
Currently in PvP you rather teleport just a short distance that is below max range rather than having to readjust your cursor and die in the meantime. Problem is, everything below max range is not far enough.

This spell needs a longer range. Until then, I will never use it.

I have to agree here. Its pretty silly having a “teleport” skill that cant traverse small gaps. I was stuck on a ledge in Gendarran Fields and thought I would use this skill to cover the short distance that was just out of jumping range. Nope. Is this intended or am I using it wrong lol?

Since then its been off my hotbar. More useful in PvP for escape I agree. But whats the problem with having it being more useful in PvE as well? I suppose some are worried about Eles teleporting to safe locations and firing off spells from there or something? They would still be within range of other attacks.

Does shadow step and the engineers skill let them traverse gaps?

I used to think lightning flash was all flash and no function. Until I was taught that it is instant and can be done during other things.
Like if you are channeling another spell, you can lightning flash during the channel without interrupting it. It’s very neat. And if it’s considered a bug and corrected, then the skill will indeed stink!

churning earth + lighting flash = pain for your enemies

Needs a longer range or it should be changed into a rolling ability. Basically you hit the button and whatever direction you’re pointed to you are instantly teleported X length
Think Thief “Roll for initiative” but instead of rolling you just teleport, Break CC’s and maybe daze the enemies nearest you for 1/4sec instead of gaining initiative.
Then I would use the crap out of it with Arcane shield and Armor of Earth so i never die in dungeons

Are you sure shadowstep works this way? I remember testing it during a jump puzzle and it not working.

Either way lightning flash has a different use completely, its intended use is for you to be able to create a gap between you and your target after you get stunned. I use it all the time it also has some cool little things you can do with channeled skills.

While it’s not the same thing the #4 Dagger Ability, can’t remember the name right now, is great for making a lot of jumps. Sadly you can’t end it on demand so you best make sure there is a lot of space for you to come to a stop or a wall to halt your movements on. I love that ability!

I actually use that skill a lot but its the worse of the 3 similar skills. (I wont specify traits)

Mesmer blink – 30 seconds CD, 600 range
Thief Shadow Step – 50 seconds CD, 1200 range, and can remove conditions and decieve players easily (my personal favorite)
Ele’s Lighning Flash – 45 seconds CD, 600 range, and damages.

All are similar but still very diffrent, I use lighnting flash to finish enemies in sPvP or WvW. Flash in his face when hes running with 10 hp and instant FINISH HIM. In PvE i use it to flee, or ress players.

I dont know if mesmer traits can affect blink, but thief has very cool traits on this deception skill. We ele’s can trait it to give, regeneration, vigor, remove 1 or 2 conditions, and a nerfed stack of might for like 2 seconds… (this last final fire major trait is useless)?

If i could, I would simply add lighting flash a blast finisher = creative, fun and fits ele perfectly
