Looking for a stable HoT build to survive
Hi
S/W is an ok weapon set. It´s good for PvE. I pesonaly am used to S/F for over a year and like it because its faster to use. I think al will work if you learned to play it.
But i don´t use zerker to run around. My trinkets are celestial and the rest mostly viper.
So i do strong hybrid damage and burn down most fast. Fire overload is a killer.
It´s not damage maximized for raids but it´s a great allrounder that is tough enough and works well PvE and WvW roaming for me. But it´s very personal.
No lighning flash. while this is good i don´t miss it :-).
Here a PvE version. I don´t use storm glyph WvW (there it´s flash freeze). Food and utility as you like. + precision, condi duration, condi damage are all good. Sigils are not optimal PvE but i don´t change just for this.
Basically some kind of burn focused build. You can use a burn rune but i don´t change gear and they melt annyway in your fire overload. It´s important to learn the timing not to get interrupted. Single oponents can be worn down camping earth quite save.

For runspeed i often pick air sigil here or you go traveler rune which is fine.
WvW I run arcane (permaswiftness by constant swaping).
condi damage is much lower here. I am a bit torn between arcane and fire, but arcane ele is what feels like the real ele ^^.
It´s for shure not optimized for all situatons, and i have troubles fighting condi mesmers (and somtimes necros) but its a setup for all situations and casual play.
I have a power based staff with me if needed.
Here traveler rune is fine too.
and if you like warhorn, go for it. It´s slow against other players and you die faster but good in teamfights. For PvE warhorn should work very well.
BUT: its one version and my personal allrounder for playing a bit more casual. Dedicated players swap the whole gear and builds PvE/WvW. If you like power damge and go air it´s difrent and will work too.
Then keep your zerker gear and maybe use the cele trinkets if you feel too squishy.
Staff is the PvE king. If you feel to squishy try to get maurauder armor insteqad of berserker and you can always put some toughness trinkets in as long as you keep power + precision high.

I’d recommend sticking to zerker but switching to dagger/warhorn so you have more multi enemy kills along with a bit more kick to your healing.
check this build out:
Just shifting your build to water may help you enough but also doing your healing combos if you were not aware of those. Also with this build you mainly wanna focus on using Lighting attunement and spamming overload more than anything else (excluding water use it when you need more health).
Combos based with this build:
Lighting:
Switch lighthing> 0-(optional) > 9 > Overload > 7-(situational)> 3 > 5 > 4 > 1 (spam or sequence repeat) (use stone armor if you’re being attacked while overloading)
Fire (this can be useful too if your cool-downs are being slowed with chill status):
2 > 3 > 5 > 4 > overload > 0-(optional)
water:
5 > 3 > 2 > 4-(optional) then switch back to lightning (notice 5 how it says combo field this means anything with blast finisher will cause AoE heal)
only use earth atunement if you need to reflect projectiles with 4 (sand quall)
some starter combos would be:
Fire attunement> 4 > 5 > earth attunement > 4 (AoE might)> Lighting attunement > 3 > overload > 5 > 4 > 9
^ this might not be the full combo but you can experiment as you see fit.
Just be sure if you’re ever on low hp use 5 > 3 for AoE heal, this give you breathing room along with your 6.
@Chicol
While the build is good for PvE and high damage it´s quite squishy and close range only and he asked for more survivability.
Alone going with this build and durability rune might do it.
Yes this build is amazing for HoT, but dying a lot. As far as damage its nice. But I seem squishy
Honestly, partly due to being lazy, doing WvW – where w/ my role I went soldiers armor – (initially) – well I kept it through open world PvE. That includes HoT/levelling. I use zerker weaps, accessories, mix more vit/tough in when needed. I still do enough and good DPS and definitely survive a lot more. But just making only armor – or some accessories PVT = a lot better imo. It’s open world, toughness doesn’t matter in terms of pulling threat/etc.
I am not proficient enough in Ele to be full zerker; coming from Guard and Druid main. And unless you are full condi build, u still do great DPS long as mix zerker in. Soldiers was just the cheapest/easiest PVT option also.
Yea I do heck of a lot of dmg no doubt, and I am fine with that. The other night I jumped in and played HoT and actually I survived, I died 2 times I think by a random mob of raptors LOL, but other then that, I seemed fine, what runes would you suggest for full zerker?
pack is one of the best. traveler is good for ele if you need the runspeed. Strength for PvE zerker is top and wyrm is a nice one but a bit better with maurauder :-). If backline scholar
