Currently elementalist is the most mobile class in the game

In the opinion of a number of people i’ve talked to…

Right the lightning – goes to far
Fire dash (3) – can dodge most projectiles and again is quite a far mover

This means that eles can continue to run without being locked down and go into water to heal as they run

I am all for mobility but this is quite ridiculous.

I’ve come to the ele forums to get ideas on how we can remove the large ammount of mobility while still keeping the class balanced?

Mobility is part of the classes design.

What should really be looked at is the classes ability to stack might so much, thus allowing celestial & other more defensive stat combo’s to push out so much damage.

Personally I think the solution is to seperate how a few things work in PvP & PvE/WvW

1: In PVP Reduce the number of might stacks applied by the trait “Spell Slinger” to 1, WvW & PvE stay as is.

2: In PvP reduce the duration of the might applied by “elemental attunement” trait to 10 seconds base. PvE & WvW stay as is.

After that they should be a bit more in line.

RTL 2 minute CD Base, 4 minute CD if it doesnt hit.
Burning Speed: 1 minute CD Base, 2 minute CD if it doesnt hit.

While we’re at it, lets just make RTL and Burning speed not move you at all.

Totally agree with you man, the might stacks are far to easy to get 25 of.

I’d also like to see fire (3) go less of a distance and see its damage slightly scaled down

What? who runs celestial in wvw, when you have so many variations to play cough cough 7 armors sets. In spvp if you run Cleric with Hoebrak runes on a 0 20 6 6 it’s quite fun even with 13k hp. Celestial is only popular in spvp after crit nerf and the removal of amulet and jewel split via stats. many builds were limited since you lost 1/2 of the variations. Zerker Amulet + Valk or PVT jewel was delicious! The game lost its build diversity when conditions builds and might stacking power/hybrid builds were favored over the nerfed crit style game play.

Then again I miss guild wars 1 which was a very beautiful game with many build variations and different pvp, gvg and pvx.

I agree, it should be changed so movement keys are tied to attunements. You can only use W in fire, S in water, A in air, and D in earth.

This should promote build diversity and make the game less confusing to new players.

I agree. Elementalist’s ride the lightning needs to be 60s cd upon not hitting someone, 30s cd on hitting someone. Reduce range by 600, so that it only goes 600 range. Elementalist is wayyyyy too mobile.

I mean, it’s not like ride the lightning has been nerfed 5 times already. If it were, then this suggestion probably would be overkill and irrational. But since this skill has not been touched since the start of the game, it’s about time for it to receive a nerf.

Elementalist have at least 5 movemet skills and blinks – where as warrior has 2 and thief have 4 – (including their utilities)

Right now there is no way to catch an elementalist in wvw they just run water – zoom away – water – ride lightning.

I agree with most ideas in this thread to make RTL 90 seconds cool down when not hittng a player and 75 seconds when it does hit.

Probably shorten fire skill 3 range to 300? and keep its damage the same but take away burning stacks it causes.

Guys, I think the better idea is to just delete RTL and Burning Speed. That way they can’t be nerfed or complained about ever again. In its place we’ll give Eles two different dancing moves inspired by their respective attunements.

Ele is a light armor class, and therefore not as tanky as warrior. There has to be some advantage of being light to make up for the lack of armor right? Such as being agile and maneuverable. I mean, it would be silly if a heavy armor class like Warrior could out maneuver an ele. Oh wait…

Well, what other use do elementalists have than to just stand there and throw fire/water/air/earth balls until someone with a big sword saunters over to them and casually slaughters them? I mean, they have low armor and low health, so they are surely not meant to survive anything.

What will the world be coming to if elementalists can (gasp!) evade attacks?

I completely agree… here what we should change:
each time they cast a fire spell they apply their own burn on themselves, fire dash will have a range of 150 on the dash and the aoe will be reduced to 90% of his previous area of course evade should be removed from the skill too much mobility…

water should chill them

stunned each time they use air, and to make sure they have no mobility whatsoever, RTL won’t move anymore. Ele will be immobilized for the whole duration of the spell .

Earth should, of course, apply immobilisation. and maybe some stack of bleed if they stay in it for more than 3 seconds
Get real people, ele has issue, mobility is not one of them.

I am all for mobility but this is quite ridiculous.

its obviously that you are only trolling or just ignorant about warriors mobility, they dont even need to go in a specific weapon set to heal while running; and how about thieves, what can be better than fast mobility and hiding; that is the cool of those professions

right now developers have failed in most of the working done for eles (elepocalipse) and nerfing something that was already nerfed would be stupid

and just one friendly observation to the op, may be you need to learn how to play your profession so you don’t give them the chance of running away from you, or try other profession and if you feel your profession is lacking of mobility you need to ask developers to balance it before blaming others professions of your ineptitude or theirs

Ele’s mobility and ranged damage balance its insufferable squishiness. It’s a low vitality class. Just like guardian, whose low vitality is balanced by easy access to defensive boons like aegis, protection and retaliation.

If you get frustrated trying to catch an Ele, I’d be more than happy to let you practice on me. It isn’t (and shouldn’t be) easy to do, since once you do the Ele is as good as dead.

cause having the lowest amount of hp and armor in the game makes us strong enough to go on and compete with other classes without our mobility…

warriors have heavy armor just like guardians do, why wouldn’t we lower warriors health down as well?

while we are at it, its unfair for a thief to stealth so much.

lets also make rangers go full melee and make mezmers only have 1 clone and 1 phantasm up at any given time.

Finally someone noticed that the ele’s mobility is far too OP.

In my opinion the elementalist should be carefully CC’d in position by the other players… with a cooldown of 90 seconds ofcourse or else the ele is just as fast as he/she is right now.

ele have less toughness and vitality then other classes so they must be mobile lol
what about the mobility of a thief? and what about the mobility about a warrior? thats even more then ele lol.
every class has his own speciality, learn to deal with it, try to counter it and stop complaining lol

I have a different balancing idea:

Mobility is bound to the weight. So if you make your character bigger at the creation it means it moves slower. The other thing:

Heavy armour profs: movement speed runes, traits, sigils DOES not work anymore…. they wear 50kg’s of steel for Tyria’s Sake.
Medium armour profs: they can use +20% movement speed buffs but not in combat. How is a guy wearing 5-10 kilos of leather able to turn faster than a lingerie-wearing girl?
Light armour prof: you can have +33% and +20% swiftness buffs… since all you can have against a sword is your sexy lingerie. And someone who only wears pieces of cloth not enough for making a good tissue for somebody like Gerard Depardieu should DEFINITELY run faster than your 200 kilos Charr in 50 kilos of steel.

oh wait… they don’t…. a Charr warri outruns a D/D ele….

So this is it… Do your math now please!
