What if glyph of storms (a spell that creates a storm for 10 seconds) created a combo field based on your elemental attunement. Imagine using a waterfield, blasting it with dagger water 2, then switching to earth attunement use dagger earth 4 and 5 (if you still run that kitten) for 2 blast finishers, and finally overloading earth inside the water for 4 more blasts. Additionally if you wanted to use this offensively then you could create a firefield and blast it in earth for might. Would this idea coupled with a reduced casting time and cooldown make this ability viable, overpowered, or still unusable? SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS

I honestly think this glyph is still good.
Just with everyone playing Tempest, who, more or less, has these effects on his F1-F4 you don’t have to equip it anymore.

Now if the core ele would be stronger, or tempest a bit weaker, and we’d see both used, maybe the glyph would come back.

I don’t PvP so I cannot comment on its use there. For PvE, even high end, this skill is already useful in a few situations. In air attunement is pretty good burst DPS, for example to use after breakbar, especially on larger foes. It is pretty much locked on the skillbar of a meta tempest for raids for example. When pugging fractals with a less than stellar team, it can be a lifesaver to cast it in earth attunement for reapplying aoe blinds, for instance dealing with mobs in cliffside or Ascalon. I also tend to use it in water on Wargs in the Escort raid if the team does not have enough CC and chill. Only in fire attunement I almost never use it, except when I am forced to deal some condition damage and it happens to be on my bar or when I am too lazy to swap to air for more DPS, or air is on cooldown.

The nice thing is that if you take it for something situational like the earth or water attunement, but you don’t think you need it right at that moment, you can still just use it in air for DPS anyhow. If you don’t need reduced air skill cooldown you can also trait for reduced glyph cooldown, those 12 seconds make a difference.

Combo field for that glyph would be nice but what would the earth storm make? Also what would you do with the other glyph would they make fields too? It would make the healing glyph a very strong heal maybe the best support healing that ele would be able to use. It would not work so well on the pet glyphs would the field be on the first cast and would there be a field on each reuse for the pet to do an attk?

Glyph have never been bad just not viable in a lot of game formats spvp and wvw but they are ok for pve mostly solo.

For pve its only used to stack vulnerability and add extra dps, but its totally useless in wvw and pvp. Making it 1200 range would be a start so it can be fully utilized with staff ele. And the damage is too low to be worth sacrificing over another utility.

I’d like to see it on a 40s cd and 1200 range at the least

Never going to happen for obvious balancing reasons. Ele is born unbalanced and that’s why we don’t get to have nice things.

To make it useful in pvp: reduce the cast time to 1/4s and the CD to like 30 (but reduce the duration), then I might consider taking glyph of storms for the near-invulnerability on-point from earth storm.

its potentially useful in wvw on core ele, but the recharge time is too much.

I use it PvE. Usless in WvW and weak in pvp. The CD is too long. For pvp it shoudl have lower CD and more radius to cover a point. For WvW it would also need more range.
So it´s ok vor PvE and mostly usless in other game modes …. On core ele in WvW you have better options….

I think it should have a 1/2s to 3/4s cast tbh, far too many skills are instant or near instant in the game. I also think they should all have the same duration as currently the different elements are all over the place in terms of duration.

I personally dislike utility skills in pvp that can do only damage. I think it should stay as it is for sake of pve and wvw.

I would prefer devs to take a look at something completely forgotten – Glyph of Renewal .

Making the fire and air storms actually deal a noticeable amount of damage would make it used. As it is however, only sandstorm will ever see use and even then it’s not THAT amazing.

That would be nice it should do more dmg / more effect the metor because its on a 60 sec cd. It would be nice if it was unblockable too.
