Guild Wars 2

I’ve recently been playing Elementalist and I absolutely love it. I’d like to make it my new main character (ranger was my first). I’d just like some tips on my current build though before i buy a full set of ascended armor for it.

I’m trying to stick to a more Balanced Setup with good condi damage and decent AP along with good survivability

This is the most balanced build you can get in wvw zerg. Very good survivability, does the dps job wich is one of the ele responsability. You can go full berserk if you’re not afraid of thief and mesmer.

you’re probably gonna die alot when using blobfight build for the first time, but when you’ve got your positioning right it’s amazing :P.
Going balanced setup is just a waste of your dps, if you have problems with surviving you can swap out a couple of berserker for valkyrie (and maybe take some assassins to compensate the precision loss).
Also getting downed state as ele isn’t necesserely a bad thing, aslong as you can position yourself good enough with your vapor form so you get rezzed up by your teammates, it’s a free 8k heal :P. The guildbuild is abit more focussed on staying alive because guildgroups tend to focus harder on downstate enemies.

Lightning rod wihtout tempest defense ….. :’(

Your “blobfight” build is the forbidden build, the one you musnt pronounce the name :x
But really, take lightning rod and tempest defense, you’ll be kinda amazed byt the damage dealt by the opening static field instantly swapped to fire

And in guildfight if you take air over fire, it means you want more survivability thanks to tempest defense, its the ONLY reason you would ever take air over fire, cause fire offers infinitely more dps, EVEN lightning rod isnt strong enough to compete with fire.
Tempest defense probably wont save your kitten of a FP, but will disable the FP for 1sec, giving a lot of time to your group to avenge you / rez you.

(well you can be willing to take lightning rod for the combo kill on FP member, but that a defensive tool too if used this way, so it’s exactly my point ^^)
And once again, 20% damage on stunned is really amazing, especially when you consider that people that die in guild fight got condi overloaded and/or stunned.

it kinda depends for the guildsetup wether you want to run tempest defence or aeromancer’s training. Aeromancer’s training if you have few eles, tempest if you have more then enough of them.
I don’t like fire that much for guildraiding because the power of the fire line lies in lava font and MS. Guildraids tend to be alot more focussed on avoiding these aoe’s so your build will be less damage and more boxing. the air line provides some extra control such as a condition and short cd static, aswell as an instant extra damage boost with your lightning rod.

For the blobfight build you can either pick aeromancer’s training aswell as tempest defence, aeromancers provide some extra control where tempest focusses abit more on dps.
For grandmaster i really prefer BttH myself, simply because it’s an excellent finishing move, because for example MS crits 7-10k on casters so they can 1shot the enemy casters if they’re under the 50% healthpool giving them no time to react. lightning rod is fine aswell, but giving that last bit of a push to create several downed states is alot more effective imo.

also i’d happily welcome evry1 to try out the blobfight build, it’s very entertaining to watch your kitten commanders shouting out for necro bombs/saying necros are the only classes with a decent bomb, when you’re hitting 6-10k MS’s, 4-6k fireball/lava fonts and 3-5k fbow XD

Nope, absolutly nope, guardian got eheir line, and earth affinity too, find another argument, 33% cdr on basicallt one usefull spell isnt worth 20% damage modifier + an amazing defensive tool.

Eitheir you take fir eor air, you’ll need to land a cc (or focus someone that got cc-ed by your guildmates). CC => a lot of LF ticks … or +20% from tempest defense.
I tend to agree with air for gvg, cause lightning rod + tempest open a combo kill on FP and BL members (gust into static + LV = RIP)

7K on a midlife BL is massive overkill ^^

5K lighning rod on a guardian (with static switched fire) is priceless
