Q:
Need advice on ascended gear
There is only one viable gearing set in this game, berserker. If you are using another stat you are just gimping yourself.
If you want to survive alone as an ele, you should be using scepter focus with 30 arcane for the water dodge.

Berserker is the best to play in when you’re capable of playing in it without failing constantly, yes, but to claim it as the only viable set is very narrow-minded.

capable of working successfully; feasible.
Let people play in training wheels. There’s nothing wrong with it provided they respect other people’s wishes on the LFG when they ask for berserker only.
Might sounds a bit arrogant. But I can confirm that I’m a strong player if this is what Purple Miku was worried about..
I’ll check out the berserker gear
Alright, got it. Replace toughness with ferocity. I’ll also check out scepter dagger. I like the 4th and 5th dagger skills too much to switch to a focus ^^
But this doesn’t answere my actually question which is what type of infusions I should pick?
Don’t make any infusions right now. As HoT rolls out, the new fractal masteries will unlock +6 and more infusions. If you absolutely must make infusion, I suggest going for +5 precision. It is much cheaper than the power one but almost as good, especially when you can swap traits out for more power builds on the fly.

So, go for the power slots on all rings, accesory’s and amulet?
Do not make the mistake many have made.
First, go with celestial for trinkets.
Then calculate your armour and weapons thereafter
I personally would suggest go celestial since it allows a lot of flexibility with your build and lets you use the vast array of skills at your command to their overall fullest potential.
For me it also removes the feeling that I should gtfo of earth or water when using zerker stats.
I agree with celestial definitely. It gives you the most flexibility in builds ( support dagger right through to solo staff).
Celestial also has like 30% more stats than any other stat combo so you also get better value for money :p
I wouldn’t take a celestial amulet if I was you. It cost 20 laurels which is 20 gold. Its a lot of gold to waste if eventually you gonna switch to zerker. IF you plan on roaming in WvW, then celestial trinket could be a good way to start because even if you switch to zerker trinket for PvE you will still use celestial amulet for WvW. If you don’t plan on doing wvw roaming with your elementalist, then you are better off with using exotic armor to gain the little defensive stats that you need when you starts (they cost less than trinkets).
Full zerker Elementalist is really hard so the vast majority of ppl using full zerker right now, took some defensive stats when they started.
For you question about infusion. You get three kind. Offensive, Defensive et Utility (Utility is only for amulet). For everything except amulet and back item you don’t really have a choice. Armor will all be defensive and weapons will all be offensive. For rings and accessories, they are unique so you can’t equip the same twice. That mean that if you want zerker stats you gonna need 1 zerker offensive infusion and 1 zerker defensive infusion. For the amulet you are better off with a offensive or a utility. I have one of each. The utility is for a 20% Magic find that I alway have on me, and the offensive is for agony resistance when I’m in fractal.
You can either put agony resistance, stats or both in those infusion. But if you plan on putting stats in all of them, it will cost a lot of gold, its a long long term goal, that 99,9% of players never do, even for hardcore player.
