I usually get great help with my questions from this forum so here we go once again

Keep in mind that this thread is about PvE, dungeons, fractals and also WvW.

Currently my elementalist looks exactly like this:

As you can see I’m a hammer focused build but I also tend to use my regular weapons quit often, it all depends on the encounter and group.
I have some gaps in my trinkets which is not a mistake, I need some help deciding if I should get berserker on the rest as well or something like power, toughness, crit dmg or whatever, maybe won’t make enough difference to be worth it.

Another question I have is when it comes to staff. What stats and sigil should I aim for. I was thinking Apothecary cause I mostly just use staff in wvw and the water fields are nice there, and ofc fire and earth do conditions. On the other hand only the stats from the weapon might not do that much difference at all.

I could also use opinions on sigils for my scepter/focus set.

I would like criticism (constructive) on every aspect here, traits, gear, sigils whatever been arguing with myself alot about this stuff :P help me stop fighting myself!

For one, I think it would be helpful to drop the last 10 in fire and take 10 in arcana for either renewing stamina (better), or elemental attunement. The vigor will be key in keeping your health up so scholar runes keep working. I am not sure how you are causing vulnerability to make piercing shards worthwhile. Perhaps you were thinking shards of ice instead of vital striking.

Also if you want dps, 10 in earth for stone splinters will be better than arcane lightning (+10% damage at all times if you are d/d or LH vs. +10% crit damage, which only works when you actually crit, meaning ~5.8% more damage while active for you).

For sigils, take at least 1 on-swap sigil (probably energy so you can dodge more, keeping your health above 90% more often). I am not sure the best trinkets here, but you are pretty much glass, so you might as well go all the way. Alternatively, take a little bit of toughness on your main armor (cavalier or knights), and take zerker trinkets (they supposedly scale better than the armor).

In WvW, you need a lot more toughness and some more health. This build, currently, would be 1-shot by thieves (and anything with a lot of power), while not doing the same back. You do more damage with a tougher build that is alive than a dead glass build.

With staff, I would take either sigil of energy (for evades), sigil of battle (for might), or sigil of fire (for additional nuking). The stats you either want zerker (as you are supported by your team as you deal damage), or clerics so you can do a little damage while healing your team. Apothecary is ok, but we don’t do condi damage that well, and many of your conditions will never tick as applications from a more dedicated (more condi-damage) class/build will before being wiped.

I have been thinking about taking renewing stamina actually so might as well do that, even though I kind of fell in love with giving out party fury
The vulnerability part is covered by party since I do most stuff in group and it’s very rare to not have someone stack vulnerability. Before I did 30 fire I had 25 fire 25 air to get vulnerability on crit but it felt wasted when in a party.

About the stone splinters. I was tempted to have that as well but decided on arcane lightning due to the aditional 10% crit dmg and 100 precision just for speccing into the line, maybe it’s not worth it not sure, that was what I was thinking anyways

I was thinking maybe going with the ascended trinkets that have pretty much zerker stats but switches like 18 precision to vit but feels like a small thing might not make a difference. What do you think?

On my daggers I have 5% dmg and 5% crit chance which I really like, energy would be awesome as well though, kitten it! give me a third arm!

For WvW I was actually thinking last night while trying to sleep (hard to let go) that maybe I should get a PVT set for that and then I started thinking about getting a set of defensive ascendeds and get the wvw infusions. Would be nice to keep my PvE set since it’s the beautiful t3 armor, LOOKS! :P
Maybe zerker gear (or if I switch a piece or 2 to knights maybe) with defensive ascendeds would do the trick for WvW.
I wonder however what stats to go for then, regular PVT or power, crit dmg with high toughness, oh the choices!!

Clerics staff sounds pretty nice. I do keep alot to water attunement in wvw to do the awesome fields. I have a sup sigil of battle atm on my current staff but maybe I’ll switch it to another. More dodges never hurt when getting zerged.
Will scrap the apothecary idea then :P your point is very valid

If you put points into Arcana for Vigor-on-Crit, take it from the Water or Air trees. That ability to provide Perma-Fury is invaluable for a group. Much more so than the bonuses given by either 10 more points in Water or 10 more points in Air.

Aha, so we kind of see eye to eye on the fire GM trait Neko
I’m wondering if I loose too much crit chance and dmg by lowering my air traits, thoughts?

You have perma fury and full zerker gear. Your crit chance is fine.

Hehe, you might be on to something there Neko.
What numbers would be the best to aim for? I do feel rather squishy at times and the idea to change my zerker armor (not trinkets) to PVT is constantly there.
