Svanir need a nerf, and it need before the relases of HoT. It will be so sad if we cant spam our attunements and overloads without a sense of logic while risking of be killed from it.

Srsly… See a dev playing ele going close to die vs a mob make me feel embarassed for him and make me worry about the future of our class

On a more serious note, it would be nice to see someone who actually understands the class to show off the elite specs. Watching Grouch demolish Chieftain with ease was more impressive than the showing of anything else. Watching Karl get interrupted while overloading twice and nearly dying (500hp) was more embarrassing than anything else. That and Rubi’s comments of “That’s so devastating” and watching 4 hits of 400 per target was nothing more than a /facepalm moment.

This goes for the other stuff to, most of the devs who tried to show killing Svanir/Chieftain almost died themselves (they even joke about it on stream) and I think it would be better to show something like Grouch demolishing rather than Karl nearly dying.

U do know those are post to hard to solo. And I quiet obvious that he was running beserker…so as a glass cannon ele they have no sustain….and two of the attunment are for support. And really the whole tempest roll looks for support…which I love…the dragon hunter was a big let down….was a support gaurd

Svanir and Chieftain aren’t hard to do solo for the competent PvP player and he wasn’t running Zerker. First one might have been Maurader, second one looks like hes using Clerics or something with healing power but no Vitality.

Either way, neither are difficult to kill solo, even with a Zerker amulet.

karl getting interrupted by the boss was actually the best thing that could have happened. It showed the whole freaking world that maybe the overload mechanic is terrible. If he was actually successful most of the people impressed by cool animation and numbers that are not put into prospective would be telling us how cool the tempest is.

Instead we all saw it and it is online forever. The people in favor of this horrible elite specialization cannot hide and are not having to resort to “wait for the beta”.

It’s the pvp boss (in pvp lobby) you’re supposed to kill easily if you’re remotely good but the person who designed tempest almost died dueling it using the warhorn and the new shouts (he didn’t use the new elite of course, that would have been a total game changer).

True, would have been better to get another player to test the team viability of it. It will be a nice weapon for teams for sure.. D/WH [tempest / water / air] maybe , I know burning is good but that could be nice for dmg / support but showing it in solo play was dumb, doesn’t highlight the usefulness of the weapon at all which is it’s entire point.

You are not supposed to kill it ‘easily’, but it is still not that difficult to melt down. Svanir does not need to be nerfed, Tempest needs a buff.

I don’t know about you guys, but Svanir is one bad kitten. I’ve only even seen hackers beat him 1v1. Tempest is fine, play it like you should, 5v1 Svanir down with support. Those boss monsters are too Stronk to fight solo.

ps: I’ve heard rumors that some people can hack well enough to solo the lord… FIX NAW.

I can handle him 1v1 but it takes a ton of knockdowns and stuns. I have five on my bar, but it takes some time to bring him down. Question why are you 1v1ing him? It’s a team game, 2 or 3 should melt him down off the start, and if you get a bonus kill on him again, then double the pleasure. Either way, fighting him 1v1 is an incredible waste of time if you can’t melt him right away.

Any decent ele can solo melt either of the Forest NPCs, either zerker or celestial. That goes for just about every class.

The tempest overloads are just awful for damage compared to what a competent ele can do with the default rotations. They’re bad for the same reason tornado is bad: you’re almost always better off going through your default D/X rotations (which grant might, healing, protection and swiftness to allies while damaging and burning enemies) than sitting around in tornado doing a little bit of CC and damage.

Same deal with the overloads. You’ll put out more of everything doing the usual D/F rotations than you currently get from any of the overloads.

Hopefully A.net will adjust both the numbers and the functionality of the overloads. Otherwise, they’ll mostly just be gimmicks to enrage your team.

He actually did die. During the stream the chat lit up about him surviving with 1 HP, which was rather… convenient. Pretty sure he didn’t survive with one HP, he forgot to turn his dev invulnerability off before he started the fight.

For all the people saying Svanir is difficult, let me try and say this as gracefully as I can.

For you, he might be difficult. Perhaps even for a large majority of the population he might be difficult. But for a small group of dedicated pvpers, he is VERY easy to kill. No, I’m not exaggerating, I promise. If need be, I can make video proving that he is very easy to solo. In fact, I’ve had to solo him many times in the past during an intense game and I’ve pulled it off just fine time and time again.

The fact that a dev nearly died trying to kill him is a testament to the fact that the new specialization is not very effective, or to the fact that the dev(s) simply aren’t very good.

Any good player can kill Svanir getting hit only once or twice. This was a terrible fight and Warhorn didn’t seem to help at all, and the elite either was useless. If that was supposed to sell Warhorn it didn’t.

I don’t even play builds that can’t even solo Svanir. Hell, solo’ing the PvP lobby Lord is doable. The builds that can do the latter is what I play with guildies in ranked.

I’m also not very good in PvP.

To be fair, some of the problem was probably Karl just trying to showcase certain skills rather rather than actually trying to be effective. So I wouldn’t read too much into the Svanir fight.

For example, the Warhorn Earth5 skill would be effective vs Svanir due to the pulsing blind. The tidal wave skill and the air vortex skills would be useful for knocking him behind one of the pillars (in the real map) to make it harder for the enemy to get a steal off.

The air overload sure did look worthless, though.

That’s a polite way to say it… His 2 first 2 overloads fail because they forgot to add stability to overloads (they do no damage anyway), he doesn’t use the crappy elite because it’s useless, and all the warhorn skills do super low damage and fail to protect him.

In the guardian video he removes half Svanir hp in 1 second while being invul and is immune to all the interrupts.

The rude way of describing svanir and chieftan. “If you can’t kill svanir and chieftan solo on any build your a beginner, and should go play another several hundred hours before participating in any balance discussion.”

It really worries me seeing devs not able to faceroll this guy, shows how they balance not around a high skill level, but around their skill level (which obviously isn’t very high). I don’t care if your showing off new things, you shouldn’t be getting hit by most of those bosses skills. In general, they need to include the most well known players in the game in not just their previews, but also their balance discussions.

I’m not by any means an elite pvper and I killed both of them very easily on my zerk ranger. And it’s not like they were focusing on my pets either, they were running after me the whole time. And I only used my bow sparingly, so I was mainly meleeing them. I was curious because they getting saying in the live stream how hard these guys were and I was very surprised by how easy they were to beat. I know eles are squishy, but it’s alarming at what a difficult time they seemed to have in that video.

I wonder if these classes are just very bad or if some of the devs just aren’t so good. Shiro revenant also had a terrible time against these bosses and actually got downed. Makes me worried for revenants too…

I’m not a pvp error but I think could kill him if I pull off my rotations right, which is rather hard to do with something like him
