New Aquatic Benevolence should apply to ele
I feel like this was a bad move. Especially when they put damage traits into water. As a dps ele, I might want to take them, but that means I’ll be stuck with a useless GM minor trait. If it affected the ele itself, it wouldn’t be that bad, but that might be broken.
Considering that it’s a “free” trait now, I’m actually fine with it as it is now. Promotes better teamplaying. Players will now want to maximize their healing ripple and other effects by using them nearby allies, because that trait pretty much says that’s what they should do it. Before, it was hard to your average player to sacrifice one self-beneficial effect for that, but now that it comes for free, I’m perfectly fine with it.
This could actually see some play with Power/Precision/Healing Power armor on an ele with Monk runes. I do it already for Fractals. It gives me great damage running a combo of zerker and Magi’s jewelry and the Power/Precision/Healing Power gear. The monk runes with this trait give insane healing on dodge roll. You get solid DPS with really solid support.
i feel like this trait shouldnt be “forced” to the players. its a trait that change how someone will play elementalist: its focused in supportive role in team oriented scenarios, it doesnt affect the source (the elementalist) so its useless in some parts of the game (mostly solo content like wvw roaming, pve instances and point holder in spvp). this trait should be a choice in the grandmaster slot (the slot anet said it would change how you play your class) and bountiful power should go back to where it is right now, a minor trait, as any kind of build in any kind of content can use it, be it solo content, pve, spvp, wvw roaming, zerg, etc…
now, if aquatic benevolence will be changed to apply to the source and allies, then i have no more complains, it’ll be a minor trait that’ll be functional in any aspect of the game
As a solo player, I couldnt care less about this trait. It’s something i’ve never used when you used to have to pick it, and now its replacing something that was actually useful to me. I’d rather have bountiful power back. Let the healers pick it if they want, its a useless trait that will never see any use from me. Anything there would be better unless they change this to affect you too and not just allies. I’d rather they take the heal on dodge off of evasive arcana and put that there instead of this useless trait. Hell, even something like arcane abatement would be better there. Theyre trying to force ele into a support role, and i did not make an ele to play a freaking cleric.

The game is not supposed to have a trinity, yet our class already casting the healing fields everywhere, gets a trait that only affects the healing on others and not ourselves…
It seems when Anet want’s to do something like avoid the trinity or create build diversity they do the complete opposite.
Yes. I absolutely resent having a trait forced onto me that does zilch for me, especially a Grandmaster trait.
Also, AB is what I’d consider a build defining trait. Aren’t those supposed to be Major traits?
I’d much rather have them put Bountiful Power back into the Minor slot.

I hope you realize what you said is WRONG. Arenanet has never made it a secret that guild wars 2 has a trinity. They even said it themselves in the beginning of 2012.
Guild wars 2 has trinity that is a fact, it was design to have trinity. Guild wars 2 currently has 3 roles in theory. It has damage, support and control. It doesn’t have a holy trinity, which is fixed roles for damage, tanking and healing. Some classes are designed to be somewhat better at different roles than other class.
So guild wars 2 does have a trinity, the sooner you realize that the better it will be for you.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
He was referring to the stereotypical trinity introduced by other MMO’s that is Tank, DPS, and Healer.
Anyways, I agree with OP in that the trait should apply to the caster otherwise the trait is very build biased. The extra healing on the caster would fit thematically with the traitline so I’m not too sold on switching it out for Bountiful Power as that particular trait seems more DPS orientated. As a solo-ist the trait would only benefit allied NPC’s or summoms.
Since minor runes are Mandatory they should provide a boost to the ele for any given build/weaponset and shouldn’t force players to switch to a different role that they don’t wanna be (in this case support).
On the other hand we can’t complain if we compare aquatic benevolence with the minor traits of warrior tactics giving them currently 3 traits based on rezzing people.
RIP ele
