So I have been maining a mesmer for a while, a good 2500 hours of play. Before I became a mesmer, I had a pink skinny female Charr with some random name, lvl 45 ele, I came across an old arcana d/d buildon these forums (around a year ago). I would find people in the middle of a zerg fight who were low and insta crit them. It was fun and I will never forget that ele toon. Now I am serious and if someone would please help me with a good WvW zerg build for a lvl 40-60 toon. Also help me with stats and food or traits. Atm I am running 20 in arcana and 10 in water. My ele is lvl 40 atm and I plan to craft her to lvl 60 and then WvW her to 80 before the next patch. Please help she is my last lvl 80 and so far Mesmer is my love, but ele was there before i made my mesmer xD

Tl:DR Can someone help me with a build for a toon who is 40-60 and plans on running with the zerg or atleast being slightly to roam if you could.

In the current meta most people play staff ele in zergs. Your main focus is usually to stay away from the hammer train as any backline would do and throw down water fields/ static when the commander requests them.

Since you are a under level your main focus will be to stay alive, a dead ele is a useless ele.

So I recommend going 10 earth 20 Water ( as a level 40). In earth get Earth’s Embrace which gives you Armor of Earth at 50% hp. This way if you get low hp you cant get stunned and you can dodge out of the way and heal up.

I would have you go 20 into water for the cantrip and water CD reduction. A big part of your job as a staff ele is to throw down water fields, so being able to do them more often makes you much more effective. The cantrip mastery is more for survivability for you. Most of the cantrips have a really high cooldown and they are your main survivability utilities. So being able to shave some cool down on them will help you stay alive easier.

Ty erm what stats benefit an ele though? also I like to play aggressive, sort of semi selfish, I just don’t mean to run with the zerg, I sort of like to deal damage while being survival, err idk how this would translate into ele though, but thnx for the traits, i will use them def

Ele is one of the classes that benefits well from all Stats, they’re one of the few classes that go well with Celestial stats. I wouldn’t recommend playing celestial in a WvW zerg per say. Since you want damage then the obvious choice is go zerk. What i do recommend though is to start with a tanky set like PVT and slowly swap out piece by piece towards a full set of zerk as you get comfortable playing the class and staying alive.

If you play a full zerk ele as a underlevel, you will get 1 shotted by a backstab thief since your hp will probably be below 10k easily.

Even though I mention that your main role is to provide water fields and static fields you still get to do plenty of damage. As a staff ele in a zerg you want to use all 4 attunements. Fire will be your main source of damage, Water is used for supporting your allies, Earth and Air are usually used for control (or #2 on earth to blast your own healing rain).

There are plenty of great elementalist in BP. Sigh T__T

Yes it’s me. hugs Narsil* Now since we are from BP we tend to fight against 1v3 or 1v5 zerger warfare so all I can say make sure you have a very dedicated front line. Any staff meta would work but make sure your follow decent numbers and always remember that they have x3 to x6 our numbers at any given fight. So dying will happen unless you’re sneaky like Nam. We took NSP and SBI Bl with 25 in 4 rotations and died when we had to fight 70+ Sbi and clutters of NSP in EB. Gain 6 ranks in 1.5 hours.

Honestly as an ele the best thing is to have a balance build so you can weapon swap out of combat when needed. Staff when Stationary, DD when in mobile equal number and D/F when you’re fighting a group that are larger than yours. Focus alone has excellent defenses in group fights (allowing you to survive some very focus spikes before you bunny hop to safe cover like a tower or behind some big non squishy allies) and alone you can burst out condition builds via attrition but it’s slower.

I would wait till the update on April 15 to suggest which will work better armor and accessory wise. Honestly most fights are based on knowing your opponents and you can rarely rely on full zerker in BP, cause you’ll die. Unless it’s 1 year ago and we were number 10 and Ebay was still Number 8 and most of these silvers were still in bronze league (equal numbers not x3-4 population). We lack numbers but have seasoned players and never stick with one build since combat varies. It’s very static here after we lost Varlen almost a year ago, Kalkz, DTC and many numbers in hundreds (Most migrate to Mag, Black gate, Tarnish Coast or IOJ). Honestly it was Varlen, he was the player that unified the server’s wvw and pve to fight on a daily basis (but he was needed in irl).

Any who PM me anytime. Oh and I’m sure Sorrychief is much better than me in spvp he’s a mere 2 ranks from Dragon after the update. I’m still just a r 42, but playing 45 mins of spvp per day doesn’t really get you too far! But for me it’s about AP and part time wvw.

I’m not good at all. All my time was either spent in hotjoin or being carried by my friends in tpvp.

and rank means nothing in terms of skill, I’ve lost to rabbit rank players 1vs1 who were comming from wvw or pve. all rank means is how much time you have dedicated to the game.

Don’t be modest rank 53 is not kitten! You played and devote a good time in pvp and plus you have team work experience! If you’re in Bp I would want you to help guide our young ele! So guest over after April 15 2014 if you have time. Not sure what crit stats will work like.
