Hey !
Im started to play with Elementalist and right now im level 17.
Whitch weapons are best for leveling with missions? I have all the weapons but some of them like scepter are from low level and have bad stats, (level 8 weapon) and my armor is also bad. is there way to get good weapon and armors not from the blackmith? I have 40 silver for now.
And there is another way to level up? do mission all the time is boring.

Sorry for bad english.
Thank you.

D/F is a good versatile weapon

D/D is not a really good combat setup in PvE, but give you more mobility while running around in the Open world. It’s a good compromise while leveling and doing map completion.

Staff is the highest dps weapon of the profession, but it use a lot of AoE, so it can be tricky when you are kitting stuff and they don’t stay in your AoE.

S/D or S/F is only a good weapon set if you use the Lighting Hammer (which you don’t have yet). This is more of a dungeon weapons set, not that efficient when you solo or level up.

As for leveling. At level 18 you can access Edge of the Mist. It’s a WvW mode where a lot of ppl are doing karma train and a good portion of the ppl there are leveling their alts. Ppl usually prefer to explore the game while leveling their first character, but if you don’t like doing that, you can try EOTM.

At level 22 you can PvP. It’s not a fast way to level up, but it can be the most enjoyable way of doing it. You are 100% equal to any other player in arena match. You can access to everything other ppl have access too from the start so veteran player have zero gear or build advantage over you. But not everybody like to PvP.

Are you really new to the game, like this is your first toon? If so, you may not know what the Black Lion Trading Company is. It’s the online market between players, and there’s a guy in every town that you can go talk to to buy/sell/pick up your stuff. You can also open the BLTC trade window by pushing ‘Y’, and buy and sell stuff, but you have to actually go to a town to pick it up.

Regarding your leveling question, yes there are other options, to some extent. If this is your first toon and you’re bored with the missions and clearing out maps already, this may not be the game for you, it’s a big part of the game, especially while leveling Edge of the Mists is great experience and can be done starting at lvl 20 I believe (if you’ve beaten the game on another toon, I believe you can enter at any level). It’s usually massive zerg’s of people running around capping points on a PvP map. You access it by pushing ‘B’. Once you hit level 30 you can start doing dungeons, you’ll get about 80% of the way towards the next level on each dungeon run. New storyline missions appear about every 10 levels.

As far as weapons go, I’d mess around with all of them and find which set up you like best. For elementalist, most people start out staff for leveling, although I prefered dagger/dagger when I was leveling and play a lot of scepter/focus now. As far as gear, here’s my tip. Basically, every 10 levels you’ll get a new set of story missions… so what I do is this…

Let’s say you’re about to hit 20, which you are. Go do your couple of story missions you get. That should level you up to 22 or 23 AND you’ll get a couple pieces of gear. From that, go onto the trading post and buy the rest of the gear that matches your level, since you’re now level 22 or 23, you want to buy gear that’s no lower than 20.

I do that every 10 levels. Just buy fairly cheap green colored gear, usually 2 or 3 silver per piece, so every 10 levels I get 3 or 4 gear pieces or weapons, plus the ones you get as level rewards, so you’re buying the last 4 or 5 pieces, so about 20 silver cost every 10 levels, not too bad.

I’d also recommend focusing on power as the primary stat (2nd/3rd stats depend on your skill in the game, but while levelling it doesn’t really matter much until later)

And I like pvp I will try it when I will reach level 22.

EOTM = Edge of the Mist. It’s a kind of pvp/pve mode. Each server fight each other in WvW in a 1vs1vs1 setup. Each server have a color (red, green and blue). Edge of the mist is similar to WvW but All red server are together, all green server are together and all blue server are together. WvW have week long matches, while EOTM have 4 hours matches. WvW have a lasting effect as good server will get higher in rank, but EOTM really have little lasting effect. Almost no impact from 1 match to the other.

This make several difference. In WvW you play to win, there is a server’s pride, there is competition between server, and ppl want the best build while fighting there.

In EOTM ppl don’t really play to win the match, but more want the best reward out of it. Ppl usually go in WvW with a level 80 and good gear, but low level alt is common place in EOTM.

On the top left of your screen there is a little tower icon. In the window you have WvW on the left and EOTM on the right.

There is several ways of getting gear and weapons, but that’s mostly a concern when you reach level 80. Some ppl like to update their gear as they level up, but a lot of ppl just equip what they loot until level 80 and then look to gear up.

And about the skill points in the game, I have 7 of them, Which skill should I take?

You gonna get crazy high amount of skill point in this game. Enough to unlock everything and then use the rest to craft stuff so don’t worry. Try out different thing and see what you prefer.
