No counter against sword thief
Heh, it’s even more fun barely being able to get breathing room as a staff ele due to Infiltrator’s Strike spam – only CC that even affects them is Static Field.
From what I’ve experienced if you are using d/d then it is very difficult to beat a competent s/x thief. They would pretty much have to mess up in order for you to down them.
On the other hand when using a scepter s/x thieves are so much easier to deal with thanks to arc lightning. As long as you have a good sense of when the thief will infil strike and time your blinds and dodges you should be able to win unless he tries to run away (pretty much nothing you can do to chase…i miss you rtl q.q). Above all else you must avoid the thiefs L-strike. IMO the damage is something to be wary of. The boon steal is just a plus.
P.S.
From what I’ve heard boon steal prioritizes defensive boons first. So you can actually create “layers” of boons in order to protect your offense focused boons.
P.P.S. Sigil of energy helps alot.
i never lose to thieves in 1v1 when they try to steal my base in tpvp, i use DD.
My suggestion is to go tanky.
My build is classic cantrip 0-0-10-30-30 with cleric amulet.
Runes of the Ogre, sigils of Bloodlust and Battle.
The secret against thieves is too use AoEs where they stealthed, dont stop attacking just because they are in stealth, that’s the most important thing.

I do what I always do against any opponent, I keep moving constantly dodging or using moving-skills constantly healing myself and applying boons and throwing down pbaoe’s and aoe’s etc. Thieves are somehow easier to beat when they are going after you while being cloaked. They tend to not dodge while cloaked thus you just need to lay down fields of hurt. If they however do dodge towards you to come in for the kill y’r gonna die…. Lightning flash+mistform? I think it’d be just postponing your execution though.
I’m built for dps and they still aren’t an issue. If anything they are just a nuisance. I carry armor of earth so I usually save that for clutch moments that are going to allow me to finish them rapidly.

Thank you for the suggestions, I was finally able to defeat a s/d thief thx to signet of energy and renewing stamina, using a hybrid scepter build 0/20/0/20/30 with 40 crit dmg and 20 crit chance, and lightning strike on crit.
Dodge-dodge-dodge plus lightning strike burst and phoenix used as PBaoe…and he’s down XD

There would be no need to use it if traits like : zephyr’s focus , vigorous scepter would work as intended ^^, in case the sigil get nerfed I’ll start using zephyr’s focus even though all the tests done so far give me no results but I may be wrong or the change is too small to matter, eventually any possible nerf will not be too severe, maybe a 20% less endurance and that would affect s/d thieves as well
