I would love dagger/dagger/focus to be viable in anything other than PVE, but it’s just not. I’ve even resigned to using a staff on the personal story ever since the first chapter with the undead hordes.

I was level 40 in ascalon catacombs, and I didn’t even see the hits coming as I slide in on burning speed just to be downed at the end.

So the early promises of playing my way are failing. I’ve traited all earth, and spread the rest evenly among the other lines. Maybe that’s not the best way to spend my trait points, but shouldn’t no matter how you spread out the points work somehow.

Do all you other eles just lay down and die to thieves? I gave one a good run, but he still got me, and I blasted cleansing fire, unsteady ground, ether renewal, armour of earth, still I was always suffering 3 conditions, and immobilize is the worst. I was heartbroken when that affected my Tornado.

How come now my armour carries about 20 condition damage each at level 70, why am I only seeing 57’s streaming out?
Any thoughts?

Ele’s been a broken class for quite some time now, now that we have all had time beyond 72 hrs of playtime is ridiculously apparent that Elementalists have some serious problems.

I think a telling trait of the Elementalits weakness is what you see on about 95% of elementalists utility bars. ALL cantrips because your doomed to die if you don’t compare that to a warrior or a thief who can afford offensive options.

Do all you other eles just lay down and die to thieves? Yes. Frankly I don’t really see the focus of an elementalist in the first place anymore. Would it truly break the game if Elementalists could do some damage? I feel like everytime I play as Ele I’m waiting for someone to save me.

hehe I tried scepter/focus/daggers in dungeons and that sucked.

Staff in PvE is painful (kill rate is usually less than respawn rate) and I can’t do it solo in some of the personal story.

If I can go ahead and get an out-of-combat weapon switch, that would be greeeeeeeat.

I don’t know that there really is a focus and I believe that’s the point; I don’t see ele as a mage/damage but more like a shaman, master-of-none gap-filler, support: little damage, some DoTs, some HoTs, some CC, and a 60-sec tank.

The story modes (Vigil) are killing me. Most are AOE which is ok except I’m relegated to heal bot if the “helpful” NPCs aren’t completely useless. On occasion I get some damage in there, but it’s rarely enough.

And then when there’s only a single mob, that’s when things get stupid. No matter what I’ve done, no matter how many helpful NPCs are along for the ride, I invariably have to cheese it in some way (use the environment, keep dying/respawning faster than it regens).

It’s a shame. I’m really enjoying the PvE and all the stuff with the map. And I absolutely love the class and all the abilities and roles I can play in groups. But the story quests are just not balanced.
