So I find myself in pugs and in my guild group who aren’t the meta runners so I find myself taking a lot of damage and not able to keep up that number 6 bonus of the scholar runes. Was wondering if I ought to swap out to strength or another set since the main reason for the scholar isn’t being used through out almost all of my fights. With how things go, the eagle runes would be better than scholar :/

What’s a better rune set for an ele who finds themselves at half HP almost all the time? I don’t raid, only t4 fractals and dungeons and the ect PvE stuff.

Brawler runes give you the same power, toughness rather than ferocity, and every heal skill grants you might. Warrior runes give vitality, power, and -20% weapon swap (for eles this would be attunement swap). If you want a more defensive stat combo I love Trooper runes with tempest (toughness, vitality, shouts remove a condition).

Strength would be a good choice if you can’t keep up the scholar buff, also allows you to generate longer lasting might for the whole group assuming they’re not meta runners as you say.

In any decent group with a might stacker and DPS spec players then scholar is better nearly all the time. Also if you’re using the inscription trait then use the glyph heal, it’s now one of the strongest selfish heals an ele has and helps keep up scholar very easily.

Raids you will have a dedicated healer so if you’re not maintaining scholar buff one of two things is wrong; you’re not stacking properly to get the heals your healer is pumping out or your healer is blowing all their cool downs on minor damage and not properly healing when big damage happens.

Last I heard, the final bonus of that rune does nothing for ele attunement swapping.

That could have changed between then and now, but I’d imagine someone would have said something about it. It’d be borderline OP/is OP and that’s why it doesn’t work.

yea if this would work on ele swap and maybe like arcane 15% an OL too …. Arcane tempest would get crazy. High skill cap but devasting in the hands of the good main ele players …

If this worked, you would not see other runes being played on Ele. Maybe overstating lol but it doesn’t work.

Strength Runes can work > Brawler; as it gives u 5% dmg under might and just better DPS stats overall – not 10% of Scholar but it’s more than many runes, and, more defensive ones won’t hurt your DPS too badly outside of Raids. In fact, Open World PvE/WvW I prefer them. But, losing 10% dmg or any rune that gives dmg boost is bad; also toughness detracts from tank possibly. I LOVE Trooper Runes w/ Tempest, but not in Raids. Again, this is the PUG tradeoff; or a learning group, you often will be below 90% health.

I would personally do Str, tho I don’t raid too much on my Ele for dmg.

Flame legion is better than scholar and strength if you don’t need the extra might and can’t keep full health for a large portion of the time. And it is really cheap.
