It has made playing D/D Ele Extremely more fun and effective in Spvp. I have managed to actually create a dmg build!.. that can survive! Because I can rely on RTL to actually take me to my target now its much easier to land combos and burst.

I’m about 98% satisfied with D/D now.. just need a few more bug fixes.. as for staff.. they still have alot of work to do.

Anyone else noticing how much better gameplay is now?

Yes the fix on RTL is simply great, though there are people who still report bug, my assumption is that these people were not very familiar with how RTL worked during BWE1 to start with

Yes, so far I am satisfied with the RTL fix. On the new map someone was knocked off a ledge while I was rtling at them and I homed in on them and hit them mid air, it was pretty awesome.

Magnetic Grasp on the other hand is still self ccing me and the leap finisher is bugged out. I think they should revert the changes until they can properly fix it.

The magnetic grasp bug was already far less frequent than the RTL bug, though now it happens to me once every 10 attempts, so yeah…annoying but bearable, it’ll be fixed soon or later.
About the leap finisher bug, that one has never happen to me, but it appears as the fire aura is not counted as such by the elemental shielding trait.

It seems to me as the algorythims implemented in the code are missing some important factors, though the pathing issue has been solved and the distance meter is not the main problem as the bug happen at different stages, so it’s not really a matetr of determined distance from target not implemented.

Their only solution is to change the mechanic altogether and to modify the “bring me to them” sequence to a “pull them to me” sequence as it works perfectly with other professions ( guardian-thief)

Well this problem should be easier to fix compared to the self-CC, it may be an overlook by Anet and possibly fixed for the enxt patch.
De-bugging a huge code is really a painful experience and bugs tend to require loads of time before being all crushed ( personal experience) as they first need to be found and tested under several conditions( when – why – how)

I think the old RTL only tracked your targets positioning at the point of casting. Right now i’d say it continuously tracks the target during the RTL as well. I used it in the clocktower the other day vs somebody that was running down, and it actually tracked the guy all the way, i was pretty flabbergasted. Wouldnt be surprised if abilities like Spectral or Magnetic Grasp got the same treatment.

It HAS maken room for another ‘self stun’ bug though. Im not really sure on what causes it yet as it only happens about once every couple hours, but what happens is that RTL loses its tracking (probably due to immunity/elevation differences during RTL travel time) and you start rubberbanding side to side for the remaining duration. Like the lightning ball is moving out of control while the target tracking system is constantly resetting your position and trying to track the enemy, causing you to dart left and right at superspeed.

I guess when the spell is unable to make a path to its target it simply cant or doesnt cancel the spell immediatly, making you have to ‘ride’ out its duration. Ba dum tssh. It would make sense as i remember one instance of this bug being versus a Guardian at the Clocktower. I cant really remember but theres a good chance he got lucky and casted a knockback bubble right as i did RTL, making it impossible to make a valid path to the enemy and thus i started to rubberband to the sides until RTL duration was over.

It’s actually a longer ‘stun’ than the previous bug, but luckily it doesnt happen nearly as often and the fact that RTL works tons better 99% of the time makes it all worth it. My ele feels much smoother and awesomer, i can get away with being glassy a lot more now, especially in the 5v5’s. There’s still a bug though.

Yeah RTL is fine now but it’s still party bugged : sometimes, when using it without target, you end up “stuck” at the end, for a few seconds.
That’s no big deal as opposed to how it was before that but it’s still a bit annoying.
Sometimes your character just stops moving at the end and you have to press a direction arrow so that it starts running again.

That’s the way it used to work for me: about a third of the time, if I was holding down a motion button during the RtL, I’d freeze at the end of the ride and have to let the movement button up and then press it again. So I just got in the habit of not pressing anything during a non-targeted RtL. It introduces a slight delay at the end, based on my reflexes, but was more reliable.

Haven’t really had any trouble with RTL since the patch, which is great. Magnetic grasp is still bugged though. I have noticed that it only self-cc’s when you cast it on a target in close range though, mid-range and beyond it does seem to work, but it was always that way for me. So I’m really not sure what they mean when they said they “fixed” it.

I’ve had RTL bug out once or twice since the patch, but it does work far better than before. I’ve found that when it does bug out, it’s because i’m traversing difficult terrain.

Magnetic Grasp on the other hand (aside from the leap finisher bug, and it not procc’ing aura traits {which I HOPE is a bug}) still works rather poorly for me. I actually stunned myself for a couple seconds of travel the other day when I used it point-blank on a stationary PvE mob while trying to proc the fire aura… so yeah…

It still needs a lot of work.

This used to happen to Magnetic Grasp when casting on someone in clock tower and they go down the ramp and you were positioned in the capture point. Just moved back and forth for longer then the duration of the skill. Also MG has issuses hitting larger mobs (mad king for one) it will try to track them and then just put you in the animation right next to the mob for full duration of the spell.
