I’ve always been a bit of an aggressive player, but I also love Ele as a class.

Im just curious as to what offensive style builds people have built for Ele as of late? Especially with Tempest.

Though I’ll admit that us elementalists are in a rough state dps wise, I’ve actually had some decent success using the following builds:

These builds excel at dishing out high area damage at close to mid range while containing a decent amount of sustain. It does have an advantage when in a 1v1 against most condition based builds such as condi mesmer and necro due to diamond skin and ether renewal while having decent sustain to fight non-bursty, power based users such as scrappers and druids. However, once the duration on your armor earth ends, you are quite prone to cc and having your overloads as well as your healing skill interrupted can be catastrophic. For this reason I would generally recommend avoiding fights involving thieves as well as warriors. Despite this, due to d/d ele’s superior mobility, you will most likely be able to successfully disengage when fights take a turn for the worst.

Well you can substitute arcane for air. Arcane/tempest with earth or water for defense. You will have more endurance/boon duration but less steady damage. D/D for burst damage or D/W for boon duration/sustain. You can use the old tanky build arcane/water/earth.

S/D Lightning Rod Build. Arcane, Water and Air.
Good Burstdamage and Sustain with good Mobility. But with the amount of Stability in the Game it can be a bit annoying..

Tempest is just horrible and usless if you don’t use healing power amulet and overloading is just shouting ,,easy interrupt here, kill me" so in my opinion this elite specs just drags down any dps build.

It’s not optimal build or anything special ( I would never use it in ranked) – I just like to see panic in enemy eyes when starting nuke’ing node or downed and ressing people. Also I stared to play on ele zerk staff in wvw and so I know how to escape angry mob.

If you take the standard d/f build, and swap out earth for air (fresh air), then take your aura traits, you get a build that is more offensive (overload air spam is pretty good pressure) while still having good support (mostly through shared shocking auras, plus the fury/swifts your auras give). It is arguably better vs. teams that are mostly power-damage (so none nowadays), but lacks the same level of self and group cleanse.

Its not Optimal but if played correctly its fun and effective you can change skills around depending on your opponents.
