I think that Anet should give Eles (and Engies) the ability to swap weapons while out of combat simply because most of us alreakittenep extra weapons on us. Giving us the ability to swap weapons before running into combat would be very convenient. Ex: You have D/D out, but you’re running towards a group of mobs. You switch to staff before you engage, instead of having to open up your inventory and switch. This clears up 1 or 2 slots in your inventory, and is just easier.

Pressing H or I takes an extra second, is it seriously that big of a deal, since you can just turn on auto run and do it real quick.

I disagree with you. If you like looking for crap in your bags and wasting time, that’s cool, but don’t try to make it so other people have to as well. That’s just being silly.

It would be a very good “quality of life” change for the game when it comes to dual weapons. I find I also have to go find my off weapon in bags when I need it cos it gets lost and changes locations.

I would really appreciate a keybind that would allow me to swap weapon sets in and out without having to doing all the fiddly stuff. Especially since I get bored and like to mix up what weapons I use.

I support this post and hope that one Anet will consider doing something like this. Weapon Bags aren’t a good enough solution for me.

Considering this is the elementalist forum, anyone who would want this almost certainly uses some form of dual wield, which makes it a lot more annoying than just swapping a single item in and out.

Well I disagree, I swap to staff all the time for the Aoe speed buff on allies, and right back to S/D or D/D right after that, it literally takes a second to do if you set it up right. Though I will respect your opinion if you would prefer the convenience of weapon swap.

It’s a quality of life thing and should be put in. Really annoying, especially if you have mutiple daggers, etc.

I don’t see how this would harm the game, I’ve always wondered why we do not have it. You can say that I’m lazy, but this would make it way less annoying to change weapon.

I’d love to see this. I switch a lot between Staff and D/D when I play, both PvE and WvW. Mostly for the speed bonuses. Anyways, the hero bar takes up a big part of my screen and there for making me pretty blind for 1-2 seconds and yeah, being blind for 1-2 seconds can mess up your (or well my) play a lot.
This wouldn’t be a life changer for Elementalists, but I think it would be cool.

How about just full gear set-up swap for all proffs? You know, the usual shift+1-5 or w/e changes the set-up to a presaved one…only works out of combat, ofc… Because having to manually change everything is just….getting on my nerves….

Apparently you never used advanced bags – safeboxes/equipment boxes.

… and think of how much trouble Arena net would have implementing an out of combat weapon swap, they have much bigger issues to worry about at the moment.

They have a working mechanic for a weapon swap, and they have a working mechanic for controlling “in/out of combat” – for example normal slot weapon/equip swap.

So instead of disabling weapon swap for elems, they need to add one condition for activation of swap.

This would be really useful.. sure you can live without it but it would make it a lot more convenient especially in situations like in WvW where in the time it takes you to open your inventory someone could come up and kill you or just put you in combat for that matter while you are trying to equip your other weapon.. this would especially be bad if you manage to get one weapon equipped but not the second

I would love this, just an “if combat_active <> ‘Y’ and weapon_swap = ‘Y’ then swap_weapons else do nothing” type of argument.

Not only would it be a huge quality of life change (saving time and frustration trying to dig through bags to find the right weapons you want), but it would also save you a couple slots in your bags for other stuff. Also, a much lower strain on my eyes

I’d support this for any single weapon classes (like the engineer).

yes please, I have sold at least 2 times my daggers wrongly cause I have to keep them in the inventory. I know there are safe bags, but having to recall to put them there and so on is just unneeded pain.
While switching a single weapon is not a deal, switching staff for D/D is annoying.

I agree there has to be weapon swapping for Elementalist, and engi, because i don’t want to run away from mob then wait a bit just to change a weapon and run back, by then all the mobs hp is back up.

It would be nice, I’d hate for a thief to jump me while Ive got my hero screen open and only 1 of my 2 weapons replaced.

I would rather have a profession-spanning mechanic that allows me to save at least two different trait distributions and weapon sets and let me switch between them quickly via [CTRL]+[F1]-[F4].

its impressive the ammount of ppl u find in this forum pretending to be so pro at something that they even refuse or disagree with needed changes like these, u can delude urself however u want, pressing a combination of 2 keys or simply \ is going to be 5 times faster than ull ever be at opening bags and double click on each of the weapons to do so.

Although it would be extremely useful, having playing an Elementalist as my main character from the beginning I feel it’s unnecessary. We are not given this in an attempt to keep the playing field balanced. Yes, I use a staff and my builds are build around that weapon. That being said, I do very much so enjoy using the other weapon combinations. (In other words, this isn’t my opinion simply because I don’t switch weapons often)

The fact that we can switch between four attunements, each with their own set of unique abilities already far exceeds the amount of abilities that the other professions can use in a single session of online play, even if they do switch back and forth between weapon sets.

Im confused about your comment newportBox, are you saying that it is unbalanced to press a button or 2 to switch ur weapon outside of combat, but perfectly balanced to open ur backpack and do exactly the same but wasting more time and effort? like 2 seconds?
