In the current meta, this utility is extremely useful, now I don’t want to deduct importance from stability givers like the Guardian, all I’m asking is a CD reduction on Armor of Earth, let’s bring down the base CD to 75s, I don’t think this would make the utility OP.

What’s your opinion?

I would like it, yes. However, I doubt it will happen as (1) it’s a buff to Eles, and (2) it buffs something a lot of people probably already/frequently use.

I prefer to get back stun break on Lightning Flash. Or reduced cd on Armor of Earth. Because I dont use Mist form, I have only 1 stun break with long cd, and it really hurts sometimes.

I completely agree with this change. It needs a serious CD reduction. A lot of warriors used endure pain when it was at 90s cd just as a lot of eles use armor of earth at a 90s cd. Wars got a CD reduction to 60, and they use it about the same amount. I’m fairly certain eles would still use it about the same amount if it was changed to 75s or so. 15s is really not that big of a deal considering its at 90. Though, I will admit, I can’t stand using Armor of Earth unless I have 20 in water for the CD reduction. If it was brought down, it would reduce the necessity for water traitline, which is something A-net wants to do, right?

You would think that wouldn’t you.

I certainly hope so. it would be a step in the right direction as far as what a-net wants to do for ele. a buff to what would seemingly make cantrip ele more powerful, really wouldnt make cantrip ele that more powerful. It would do more good as far as allowing more diversity in traits and really opening up ele’s by making armor of earth flexible to be able to use without a much needed reduced CD trait.

Totally unnecessary change. Armor of Earth could have a cooldown of 2m and still be fine. It is enough that it procs. See, here is an example that there will always be someone who supports the wrong side of the argument, and is serious about it. The problem is that ele is so broken at the moment that every sensible change is, by some perspective, senseless.

Am I the only one that wonders why the Ele’s mechanics and abilities have been systematically wrecked since release? Doesn’t it seem like it has more to do with bad relationships in ANet politics than professional design?

If you want more Armor of Earth, take the 10pt Earth trait to proc it at 50% health and have it as a utility at the same time, boom. Two Armor of Earths.

True, you can’t use skills in mist form anymore anyway. The only thing being a stun breaker does for it is letting you move around in it, otherwise you’re just stunned and invulnerable.

Honestly I find Endure Pain more useful than Armor of Earth because when running in a group I often get stability from others, but having a 100% direct damage reduction skill while still being able to attack is amazing. The fact that its only 60s compared to Armor of Earth’s 90 is just comical.

Mist Form should also be reduced to 60s baseline. Hate to compare it again to Endure Pain, but it is probably the closest comparision. Both break stun, I believe the advantage to Mist Form is that you cannot take any conditions while in it or be controlled. The disadvantage is that you can’t actually do anything while in it except try to move away from the pain and hope they’ve swapped targets. Endure pain’s disadvantage is that you can still be controlled or hit with conditions, BUT it lasts for 4 seconds instead of three and you can actually still use your skills. Having used both, I can say imo Endure Pain is better and therefore, a CD reduction to Mist would not be out of line.

Please take your hyperbole elsewhere. Powercreep has rendered AoE pretty much obsolete in the current meta, and possibly even after this meta ends.

Despite the nerfs, I think Mist Form and Lightning Flash are good as they are. MF is a very reliable anti-burst skill, and LF is still a pseudo stun-breaker that has a lot of synergy with some skills (even more so since its change).

Meanwhile, I think Cleansing Fire is underwhelming since the lose of stun-breaking, and Armor of Earth was always the “weakest” (most situational) of all the cantrips. Considering that the current pvp meta is dominated by conditions and by stuns, and that those skills aren’t used very much, I would say they need, at the very least, some cooldown reduction.

-5s for CF, and -15s for AoE seem to be safe numbers to set to.

That’s my opinion on the current state of cantrips.

Assuming no traits or boosts, that’s a 6 second stability and protection over a 90 second cooldown which means 1 second of prot/stab every 15 seconds.

Traited, we’re looking at a 72 second cooldown (with the cantrips trait) which leads to 1 second of prot/stab every 12 seconds.

I wouldn’t mind having an untraited 75 second cooldown (60 second when traited). I typically trait for cantrips since we have such low survivability (among other things).

As for other skills, lighting flash was an amazing stunbreaker but it’s still very useful. Mist form isn’t useful at all because it offers no other benefits other than avoiding attacks (and interrupts whatever skill you’re using) and needs some sort of buff or rework. Cleansing fire needs to get buffed out of all the cantrips because it lost what made it so helpful to begin with-a stunbreak.
