I’m building an Elementalist to run around in WvW and dungeons. I thought the other day, how cool it would be to have a build that provides Perma regeneration for the whole party, so that everyone stays nice and fresh for fights. (Along top of the normal Staff healing paluza that I’m normally doing.)

I know it’s probably not good. That’s not the point. This is 2 parts “For fun” 2 parts “Math excercise” and 1 part “Hey, my party needs to not die!”

Looking over the ways Ele’s can grant Regeneration, it looks like the best option is “Inscription” As it provides 10 seconds of Regen. Unfortunatly, it doesn’t say if it effects Party members or not. (Wording is “Grants a boon” which suggests not, but I’m not sure)

Anyone have any insight on the best way to accomplish this? Or is it not possible?

(I plan on running full boon duration runes, in PvE, so you can assume +100% boon duration in your math.)

Soothing mist is a lot weaker than actual regen buff, but it does stack with it.

If you use a boon build, you can give your party a lot of regen through both Soothing Mist and the Regeneration boon.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

Boon Duration affects any boons you apply. That being said, there is no way to keep the actual regeneration buff up 100% with an Ele. You can get close with runes that affect duration, or runes that apply party regen, but you’ll never get to the point of regen stability that a Banner Warrior has.

regen stacks duration, not intensity. So building elementalist around a buff like that is one of the worst choises.

Most healing you do is with EA water dodge and simply swapping water with 15+ water. And blasting (and having your allies blast) in your water fields.

And Incription is not aoe. So sorry to kitten on ur candles but this is not the way to go. Boon duration is way to go yes, but thinking Regen is the thing best thing you wanna focus on is not.

If you go full boon duration, you’ll get (near-)perma party regen:

  • Arcana V: Elemental Attunement: 5s Regeneration
  • 30 Arcana: Attunement cooldown reduced to 9s. Every 10 seconds you can re-attune to water (1s attunement gcd)

That means that you “only” need 100% boon duration to get perma regen:

  • 30% from 30 Arcana
  • 30% from runes (2 of the following: 2 Monk, 2 Water, 4 Altruism)
  • 17% from a full Giver’s/Winter gear (1% per armor, trinket and jewel)
  • 20% from Chocolate Omnomberry Cream

With that 97% you’ll get 9.75s or 10s of regeneration (i think 5*1.97=9.85s will be rounded the the nearest quater second, and that is 9.75s).

If you deperatly need 100% regen uptime, use Healing Rain on cooldown (since the regen it grants is longer than the cast time, it should increase regen uptime) and/or ask a friendly warrior to bring the Banner of Tactics which gives the last 10%

I can’t wait until ANet releases the game promoted in the manifesto.
Until that, I’ll play GW2.

Which affects my ally’s boon duration? My runes/stats or theirs? Same with healing power?

Stats should always be calculated from the person actually doing it.
If ally blasts in your water field, his healing power is used.
If you aoe buff might when swapping fire, your boon duration is used.
Aoe regening, your healing power and your boon duration.

Guardian buffing retaliation to you, his boon duration, but not sure whose power. By the same logic it should be his power.

There is actually. Healing Rain + Elemental Attunement + people firing through the healing rain with projectile finishers. If you use a boon duration build, all instances of regen are extended by up to 80%, making perma regen possible.
