And no Meteor shower doesn’t do any damage at all. It tickles compared to what everything other classes have.

PvE-wise elementalist are fine because monsters are useless standing still which makes our very slow and very delayed ability actually hit them.
But for PvP. Having an elementalist on your side usually means you will loose.

It’s true, because elementalists rely on chaining 3-7 skills at once to deal almost as much damage as other professions do with 1-3.

Yeah it’s much more constructive to tell new players “don’t bother playing this profession!” If you wanted to flood the game with more mesmers, engineers and thieves it could be accomplished with a much shorter thread with far less angsty passive aggression than this one.

And yes I’m gonna make sure less players plays it so I don’t get stuck with elementalist in my team for sPvP.

I do have an 80 Elementalist and played an Ele throughout the BWE’s. I also enjoy it, considerably. Shocking I know.

I have no issues finding groups for anything I feel like as an elementalist, be it tournaments, dungeons or wvw. Maybe my server just doesn’t listen to the general crybabies saying that eles are useless.

Underpowered =/= useless.

How many different specs/trait combos have you tried, have you tried different gear sets and stat configurations have you tried building parties that compliment your playstyle and choices.

Based on the fact that you say meteor shower does the most damage I have to be concerned about what you’re using. You don’t bother going into any detail about whether your experience is in WvW, sPVP, dungeons etc…

Posting random crap without any suggestions or background doesn’t help anyone, least of all you, improve the class

MS is indeed one of our most hard-hitting skills, without taking into account its random nature. We can also include Fire Grab, Churning Earth, etc.

Regardless, all of those skills do not define the Elementalist as a profession that “can inflict massive damage in a single attack”, because all those skills are weaker than the burst skills from other professions, on purpose, as they are meant to be chained together.

A better definition of the elementalist would have been: “the ability to chain attacks to inflict massive damage.”

I love my ele.She can be a pain but still, great fun.I generally run vitality and toughness with my gear.That seems to have worked for my play style.Trait wise I’m trying to push power and arcane,with 10 points in water and earth.That way i can deal decent damage and switch faster for combos with a bit extra health and toughness.

I’m only level 41 so far but i really enjoy it so we’ll see if this build works out.If i end up hating i can reroll no big deal.

I do think Meteor Shower is one of the better AOE spells,for the staff.I mainly use a staff,i just like being able to attack from afar.I am thinking I might do my damage with daggers though.Will have to try that out.

I haven’t really had issues in Dungeons yet.Normally i live while the others drop dead around me.Though i think that’s mostly because i know when to run away and recover.I do support with my water skills but they aren’t enough to save a group who wont back off.

All that said i don’t think there is any reason to discourage others from playing the class.If it didn’t work for you then great,but let others decide for themselves.Also, i haven’t had an issue getting into a group for dungeons or WvW or really PVP.(though i did suck with my ele in pvp)
