Seriously. Cele Ammy comes and now we get:
-Might nerfed
-Battle Sigil nerfed
-Drake’s Breath nerfed
-Lightning Whip possibly nerfed

Please. If you do these things, all it does is push the class further into Cele Bunker. Tone down Cele amulet before you start messing with all of our other stuff :/

I’m not one to start asking for nerfs on other classes, because karma is a kitten, but the Lightning Whip exploit had to go. It would of been best for them to do that months ago and see the results rather than lumping 4 changes all at once.

Typical anet balancing act though.

Cele Amulet wasn’t the only thing that was implemented before these nerfs. More important and less mentioned as a culprit is 2x sigils and upgraded runes. Strength runes were a target for a while, and they were shaved. Battle sigil was never shaved even when allowing 2, and it was honestly WAY too OP. It gave about 9 stacks of might quite reliably, which was 315 power AND condition damage (better than fully-stacked bloodlust AND corruption sigils combined). I now feel like battle sigil is strong, but not a mandatory take in most builds.

I don’t think LW is actually nerfed, the Drake’s breath nerf is justified and pushes ele back towards more power-based damage (you still get huge burns if used right). Might nerf is small, but does hurt a LOT of professions and barely viable builds. In the end, I don’t think the nerf to might itself will be that significant.

With these changes, cele bunker should be pretty balanced. Now they can really start buffing the fringe specs! (The changes to shatterstone and dust devil aren’t real buffs either. Shatterstone will STILL be a skill that you slap your forehead and say “why did I just wast time casting this?”)

Poor shatterstone; a gimpy version of staff’s ice shard :c. At least ice shard (water 2) is consistent and still hits hard enough to be worth the keystroke. Anet is justified in not straight out nerfing celestial, as much as I dislike it, as they are taking baby steps to tone it down.

I’ve solely been playing 6/6/x/x/x berserker builds on my elementalist for the past 5 months and it works fine for me and my teams. Nothing is ‘pushing’ you into playing a certain build, people just use it as an excuse to play the easiest thing possible. Hell, lightning whip is a buff imo, as now those cele eles I fight can’t abuse the signet heal and in result lose a ton of sustain ^^. Can’t wait to interrupt some ether-renewals <3.

It’s just ANet staying true to their tradition, isn’ it? I’ve been playing this game since release and I don’t recall them ever doing anything other than

a) Identify problematic build
b) Nerf lots of stuff in that build except for the core problem, so other builds get hit even harder
c) Wonder why other builds disappear and everyone is forced into the problematic build even more
d) Use c) as an excuse to nerf even more stuff unrelated to the core problem

And, most important:
e) Don’t give a kitten about how you just completely screwed all those WvW players. Why even bother doing sPvP specific changes, not like anyone’s playing WvW anyways, right?

I don’t really mind these nerfs. I can live with the battle sigil and the might changes. In a prehistoric MMO I survived much harder nerfs without complaining…

But I don’t get the Drake’s Breath nerf! D/D ele has access to only two damaging conditions and these are almost impossible to “burst” on a foe at the same time.

Sure Burn, Poison and Bleed can hurt if stacked quickly but it’s not easy to pull out! I understand that 12 sec Burn can ruin anybody’s day but hey, that’s why the mentioned “anybody” runs with condicleanse-reduction…

I completely agree, ANet is just nerfing the symptom instead concentrating to the real problem.

Drake Breath’s 3s burn was there from the start of the game, until Cele Meta popped up I never heard one single person complained about it.

Now wow it is so OP it must nerfed, did you need 2 years to understand it was OP?

I accept that weapon staw was an exploit but it is only nerfed for Ele, it is still there for greatsword Mes (it can cancel the last part of the cast to cas new much sooner than possible ICD) and Warriors can still cancel their critical skills not to lose their Adrenal if they see they are going to miss.

What is ANet solution, nerf Ele version do nothing for others, men can think reasonable solution would be no weapon staw in combat, who the hell in his right mind would staw a weapon in the middle of combat if he is not exploiting something.

Because it’s broken and everyone knows it. You can stack up to 10 sec of burning after a full cast of Drake’s Breath on 5 sec cooldown. It’s a great skill with lots of aoe damage on a short cooldown and it’s still going to be good, but the burning really needed a nerf. With the nerfed version it should be around 6 sec of burning. It’ll still be possible to keep burning on a foe 100% uptime because of Ring of Fire.

I wish they would have just fixed stow weapon instead of going after skills individually. Stow weapon was the root of the problem anyway.

You again point the root of the problem ‘Eles in PvP had never had condition damage on Amulets’ when that happened, when Cele in PVP is buffed.

Before any stat invested to condition damage, Ele burned like 350 per tick now 500 and 600 if fully 25 stack might buffed.

I ran Cele stat combos in PVE and WvWvW and never heard that anybody complained burn ticks or duration in Drake’s Breath and once Cele stats over-buffed in PVP and in all aspects of the game Drake Breath must be nerfed.

Yeah right.

-Sigil of battle nerf was needed
-Drake’s Breath is still ok due to the such low cd
-Lightning whip is more of a bug fix and increasing the dmg for the ones not exploiting the stow weapon for more dmg.

Yes, nerf celestial amulet so eles can go back to being bunkers & zerks only with no other variety- i think anet needs to pay attention to the outcries & investigate if eles are actually OP or it’s bc people need to L2P

Ele’s rely on might more than any other profession, Drakes breath change isn’t bad, the exploit on lightning whip is a good change, but nerfing its damage by 10% is a big hit and uncalled for.

Basically, this whole patch felt like one big Ele nerf. It’s WoW’s Mage all over again. They buff us to the point of viability, and then nerf the kitten out of us.
