Powerful Auras nerf
Nerf is the new fix.

Nerf is the new fix,
Ikr gonna make that a meme. The first chance they have it’s more than appropriate to hit with the nerf bat.
So we still get double aura-application, but only one boon application? That’s odd. That sounds more like a bug than the original behavior.

That’s what I’m saying, they injected a bug.
I’m not foreseeing much needed Tempest buffs anytime soon…
Auramancer isn’t even a very good build anyway so it is a very sad move to nerf it further.

I thought they changed it so that auras no longer stack. That means that the auras applied from shouts and the auras applied from powerful auras may as well have been the same aura anyways.
On topic:
If you take a moment to think about it, it was unlikely that they had intended for powerful auras to interact with the shouts aura in such a away anyways. I’d rather they decided to fix it now rather than let people rely on an unintended mechanic like what happened with FGS 4.
I think they should remove powerful aura then…What’s even the point in getting that?
The build that I find (arguably) the best doesn’t even take water, so I’m not too bothered by this. Still powerful auras is in an odd spot where the other water traits are too synergistic with arcane, and therefore disynergistic with tempest, so I think it’d be better if powerful auras was merged into elemental bastion, although that could potentially be overpowered with fresh air and elemental shielding all in the same build.. so…

Nintendo games..

Signets really need to be able to give auras again, otherwise powerful auras is really pointless. A GM trait just to make 1 or 2 long-ish cooldown weapon auras AOE? REALLY weak.
Im also not so thrilled by this. They removed all the bonuses aurashare gave to shouts. One at a time, this is just the last remaining one. Frostaura doesnt stack anymore… auras don’t heal twice… boons dont get applied twice.
Its kinda like saying: Dont even think about running shouts with aurashare!
And as others have posted above i thought this was really cool flavour for a build thats kinda weak to begin with.
The point is that aura-sharing is so generic that we can do many things with them as long as we’re creative, but this nerf just kick us back to the beginning: any class/spec can outperform us. It’s not like “oo tempest is good at this the same way as spec Y”, there is no equality to my eyes, tempest is just as squishy as base ele, and now it has one more reason to be left out of challenging content.
The main problem, however, is that it’s an injected bug. I apply aura to others, they gain 5sec swiftness/fury (Zephyr’s Boon). Since I get the aura aswell I share it because of PA, and sharing them will grant another round of 5sec swiftness/fury. If PA only works with weapon skills which generate an aura, that should be CLEARLY explicit in the description as to not become misleading, rendering it useless btw (Cleasing Water ftw).
WB classic DnD ele
Yeah, this is lame. I mean, I see why they didn’t want double boon applications, but it wasn’t a BUG. They could have reworked Powerful Aura to be more interesting, but instead just chose to remove a legitimate interaction.

I agree. Give us back our signet auras.

They are pretty much aware that powerful aura isn’t shining at all. Due to that fact they changed svanir 6/6 rune to grant frost aura. Basicaly they should consider rework of that trait in total (maybe in top secret they do it already), we rather won’t see it have elemental bastion in it.

I had to check rune of Svanir! Though… an aura below 20% health, 90 sec cooldown? Oh boy, that’s pretty meh.
Devs: kitten ele right in the kitten .
Lately ArenaNet has wielded the term “fixed a bug” in order to nerf things. “Bugs” which were always intended behavior. Look at Rune of the Trapper. 3 second stealth was always in the description. “Fixed a bug in which….” Hahaha I see what you did there!
Powerful auras has pretty much never been worth taking, as there aren’t enough sources of auras for this to be GM-level. It also just seems counter-intuitive to how tempest works baseline, such that they had to introduce special functionality against double-sharing.
Water’s GM slot is honestly just "Cleansing Water’ and 2 dead traits. Part of the problem is that 90% of ele condi cleanse relies on that one trait, that basically nothing will be able to compete with it. Best option would be to give some cleanse that isn’t tied to regen.
Something they fixed in beta 3 just did not make it to the finale version right off the bat. It realy should not apply auras 2 times but it should let you apply auras to up to 10 targets when you use an aoe aura (i am not sure if the caster counts as an aura target for the shouts but powerful aura hits 5 ppl after an aura is applied from the caster.) I think that would be a great nith tempest could fill the 10 target support class.

Not even “lately”.
Fixed a bug with “unintended” blast finishers was the EA nerf that had been like that and changed a few times since beta, always keeping the blasts.
“Hey GW 2 game developer here, we want you to take full advantage of the gameplay tempest offers. One core element is aura sharing between allies”.
One week later
“Hey GW2 Game developer here, seem like there was a bug where you shared auras with teammates when playing tempest. That was never the intention and we have therefor ner..fixed it.”
No no no, you didn’t understand how the skills you developed work.
This sums up Karl Mclain. Did you see him flail around with his tempest against Svanir? It was so embarassing.
Attacking devs isn’t helping anyone. I get that people have issues, but that’s just not cool.
I do now wonder when someone would take Powerful Aura.
-If you’re running an Aura build, you have to run Shouts
-Most Shouts give AoE Auras (except for “Wash the Pain Away!” and “Aftershock!”)
-Cleansing Water, combined with Invigorating Torrents, completely outclasses Powerful Aura
What’s the point of PA? The argument could be made that it’s to help core-specialization Eles play Aura builds, but honestly, if you want to play Auramancer, Tempest is pretty much mandatory. PA does help you share your weapon skill Auras, but you can make up for that with Shouts, especially “Rebound!”
I’d rather that Powerful Aura be replaced by another Water Grandmaster that can actually compete with Cleansing Water.
