I find that its pretty good when team fighting and okay for bunking but not for long periods. Don’t pick a fight 1v1.

What do people think? Is it an okay alternative post-patch?

You are only useful if you have a team that has coordination at this point. I used to win 1v1s as a staff ele if someone wasnt careful- now: run away, cast: run away, cast: die (even built as a bunk bc conditions and bursts) because you were caught alone. Just go full clutch and glass it from a distance. Way more fun than getting distraught because you lost the last 10 matches because you can’t rotate points without someone, so technically you’re 4v5 if your team can’t rotate. my point, whether you play bunk or glass or try in between you cannot 1v1 anymore and pray you don’t get focused so might as well go damage and atleast take out something

Staff is basically an AOE build, and AOE builds never work in small group PVP on any game. The reasons for this are fairly obvious when you think about it:

Its inferior as soon as someone focuses you., you cannot compete 1v1. Especially in GW2 that is highly mobile.

If the AOE is so powerful that it can kill then it instantly becomes OP due to the influence this can have on a fight, therefore the damage is normalized to be lower, so you become background generalized damage and healing – and small group pvp is all about focusing people down to get the numerical advantage in a fight.

People who play AOE weapons tend to focus more on numbers and think high numbers means they are contributing equally – see point above.
