Quality of life change - Vapor Form
That’s a cool idea. While i sometimes use my normal skill and get downed, i accidentaly fire Vapor Form. This happens most of the time
Actually just change skill 2 and 3 around problem solved.
Nothing wrong with spell. It is working as intended.
I would say 0.5 seconds is enough. Or more precisely, we simply should not be able to cast it before the downed skill bar appears.
But what annoys me the most is the second part of your complaint, that you saddly seem resigned to accept as normal behavior

I have started to get the impression that Anet hates Eles, not saying thats right or that I aggree with it, thats just how I feel. In response to your post additional downed penality for using vapor form makes no sense what so ever, you should never be punished for using a skill that has been placed at your disposal.

I guess it’s because the end of vaporform counts as another death as you can see on the right where the kills are listed.
I disagree with the CD or any delay on the skill. I will admit, there were a few times that I triggered it just like you said. However, this only made me become more aware of my HP.

If you pressed 2 and got downed before the skill triggered(happens rly often with staff), VF will trigger instead. That doesn’t quite sound normal to me….

exactly, had it happen often on big attacks from bosses etc in dungeons – they instadown me if I’m already a bit damaged and no watching out for health will change it. if I’m out of dodges and try to use my blind on staffs air 2 I often get down and into vapour form immediately. can still salvage the situation most of the time, but its still not what should happen. its a bit like the auto-attack firing on attunement-swap.
though I’d consider this insta-cast of VF rather minor, the death-penalty bug is much more important (and the lost ‘death breakdown’ info in pvp – I really want to know whether I’ve been hit by 12k 100b or 10k backstab ;-) )
Really would like to see some changes here.. the instant vapor form is really ridiculous.. Ive died so many times due to casting a spell and being hit at the same time only to suddenly be in vapor form and not being able to use it again later… not to mention the fact that it gives an extra downed penalty which can also end up killing you..

Pretty much. The mechanic seems to be that entering vapor form counts as leaving downed state, and then when it expires it counts as being downed all over again.
This can sometimes be advantageous – it’s possible to enter vapor form with a sliver of health left and then emerge from mist form with a significant fraction of your downed bar replenished if you don’t have too much downed penalty to begin with – thus acting as a kind of additional heal.
It’s possible that the additional downed penalty is simply an unavoidable result from the code of having a skill that temporarily takes you out of downed and then puts you back into it. If not, it might have been intended so you couldn’t simply keep chaining vapor form as a heal in the method described above. If it’s the latter, though, it probably would be better to make it a seperate mechanic, since having additional downed penalty after you get back up just for using your escape skill just like a mesmer or thief might doesn’t seem especially fair.

Adding a cooldown that prevents the spell from being used before your downed skill bar appears would be a life saver for sure.
