So after looking at possible condition builds to work in conjunction with the new trait changes with the stat builder at 2k condi damage Drake’s breath comes out as about 20k damage, burning 6 1/2 seconds.

Now can someone explain to me how the 20k number will actually occur. Because i’m pretty sure it’ll give about a 900 a tick burn, so how is the 20k relevant?

It’s the total damage dealt over the entire duration of burning. Drake’s Breath hits 4 times (if you’re lucky), meaning 6.5*4=26 seconds of burning. 26*900 =20k damage (give or take).

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

Darke’s Breath applies 4 stacks of burning over the duration of the channel.

If you manage to land the full breath duration on someone. So the 20k damage would be 4stacks*6seconds=24seconds of burning.

Maybe in pve you can get that number but in pvp or wvw no chance, unless enemy is some newbie with 0 condi cleanse or condi duration reduction.

Or if you have good covering conditions that you can regularly reapply – pretty hard to do as an Ele. Group support makes it pretty easy, though.

But yeah, condition damage will always give you only the potential output, because your enemy can always cleanse it away – it’s wise to bear this in mind when landing your conditions.
