Guild Wars 2

So I’m back to the game after months away, and back to gearing up my ele! My plan is a mixture of Knight/Berserker/Valkyrie, blah blah none of that’s the point.
And lo and behold, a new level of gear! Egads! Well, made those 400 levels of Jewelcrafting look a bit less-than-stellar in hindsight, but eh, water under the bridge (and LA has an awful lot of bridges).

Looking at the stats, though, is there any reason not to take the ones with the most versatile stats, in most instances? I mean, maybe if you were pure glass cannon, but…

Comparing, for example, Bud of the Pale Tree to Syzygy, Bud gives you (realtive to Sy)…
+72 Power
+13 Precision
+2% critical damage

Well, the power’s certainly nice, but comparatively, Syzygy gives you an extra…
+36 Vitality
+54 Toughness, Condition Damage, and Healing Power
+4% MF

For context, I play a staff ele, so none of those stats is completely useless—I don’t use much in the way of Condition Damage, but even ignoring that… is it really worth it to pick one of the more “specialized” equipment models? The same, as far as I can tell, applies to the other ascended categories.

Mostly looking for opinions, thought processes, etc.
