Q:
Will the condi removal cooldown on applied regen be an IC for each player or just the caster?
I.e if I was running cantrips and cleansed a condition before swapping to water attunement, would the aoe regen applied to my allies not cleanse them, subjected to the IC from my cantrips?
Other ele skills such as glyph of elemental power have individual player IC.. Is that what you’re going for?

The ICD is on the caster, however on AoE regen application it applies AoE regen, then does an AoE cleanse, then applies the ICD. Make sense?
What’s the crack on this then? Any testers?

Glorious ANet response, I have missed you so. Also, if I understand correctly, then the ICD doesn’t interfere with water 5 on staff, so some good news for staff
Healing rain applies regen and cleanses a condition every tick with the ability itself. In addition the water trait is supposed to cleanse a condition each time regen is applied. I am guessing the first tick will do its normal cleanse and then the water trait cleanse, but the second tick will only do the ability cleanse and not the trait cleanse?
So it does interfere with water 5 of the staff, sort of. Well assuming I am reading this right and it works like this in reality.

Think so.. thanks for the response!
The way I understand this. If you use a can trip and gain regent you will cleanse. If you swap to water within 5 seconds and apply AoE regent no one will get cleanse not even your team mates. Correct me if I’m wrong.

What you said should be correct.

I think that’s how that will work assuming no bugs.
Its unfortunate that it is caster based instead of target based because it nerfs group utility as well. I guess it was just easier to code that way.
I don’t get why this needed a nerf anyway. It’s a friggin 30 point trait, shouldda replaced the regen on cantrip cast with a different boon/effect instead.
Not like I play an ele, but for everyone with half a brain who read the ele trait lines and skills once, it’s fairly obvious, this change goes in a completely wrong direction.

it’s still a potential cleanse every 5 seconds.. although I’d agree that allowing cantrips to interfere with an aoe cleanse does raise the skill cap for team utility.
Anything that raises the skill cap on cantrip eles is good news to me.

Problem is switching to water gives regen too, something eles need to go in and out of extremely often for healing ripple. If you don’t, you don’t outlast and you die. The ICD on the trait now is active almost half the time just because of that. If you do happen to use a cantrip later in the cycle, where it’s come off ICD from you switching to water…well it’s gonna be on ICD when you switch back to water again almost for sure, so you miss that cleanse.
Certainly not just a matter of spacing out cantrips, which wouldn’t have been a big deal at all standalone.

I’m never in favor of taking activated abilities and forcing the users to have to mentally keep track of icd’s. There needs to be a display on the potential cleanse, just like with kit refinement. ICD’s are generally reserved for passive abilities, but since they tied it to activated abilities through traits it becomes a bit clunky for my taste.
We actually do have a dev for the ele forums? O.o
I’m going to state that I don’t do sPvP. But I do feel for my Ele brethren.
I’ve compiled a list of how far reaching this nerf is:
Cleansing Water trait: Can now trigger only once every 5 seconds (only in PvP).
>remove condition when granting regen to yourself or an ally
[Trait] Soothing Disruption: Cantrips grant regen.
[Trait] Elemental Attunement: AoE grants regen (attuning to water)
[Trait] Soothing Wave: Mist Form, Frost Bow, Signet of Water grant regen.
[Weap] Staff (water) #5: AoE multiple procs of regen.
[Weap] Trident (water) #4: AoE regen.
[Heal] Glyph of Elemental Harmony (water): grants regen.
[Runes] Any which grant regen.
(did I miss anything?)
Also note that the water traits Soothing Disruption and Soothing Wave are mutually exclusive when compared to Cleansing Water and using Mist Form
Maybe we had too many options for condition removal. But this is a 30 point trait in water. I can’t help but to feel that ANet is punishing us for being too survivable. And in their goal of making more builds viable they are doing it in such a way that punishes popular builds. Instead of throwing a bone to other Trait Trees to make them more alluring.

The trait is still good, I just don’t run soothing disruption anymore in spvp. Not going to screw over my teammates for a cleanse that MIGHT help me.
