I could give 2 million reasons why, but why should I when my words will go on deaf ears… This proves they haven’t listened to the community at all… We have a Elite Spec based on support!!!!!! Everything else? What do you consider to be supportive? Healing, cleanse skills, boon application? This is really a semantic problem: you can support your friends with DPS, DoT and CC as well.

1. let’s see the tempest doesn’t add anything that elementalist lacks. All the things it brings we could already do extremely well. Nobody ever goes “gee I wish elementalist support wasn’t good”.
2. The class mechanic is unusable against opponents that have something called a brain, it only works against PvE mobs.
3. Ironically, the class mechanic is actually better on the staff than the warhorn.
4. the elite suck since it requires far too much coordination short of mind sharing, it will be wasted on an auto attack.
5. The shouts are not better than cantrips. Cantrips are still going to be the best.
6. The tempest isn’t going to change our dependence on either arcane or water.

The most important thing is #2, the class mechanic sucks.
Guild wars 2 has a lot of interrupts good luck getting off a skill with 2.75-5 sec cast time. IF you do get the skill off, the attunement has a 15 to 20 CD which is long considering the elementalist needs to attunement dance. If you get interrupted which is extremely easy, the overcharge and attunement goes on full CD.

I am speaking strictly PvP and WvW, PvE is not relevant. anything and everything can work.

Since you love asking questions, why don’t you tell me why tempest doesn’t suck. (actually don’t bother).

The elite specs aren’t supposed to give professions things they lack. It’s simply a tweak in its core mechanics. How could you say cantrips are still going to be better than shouts, or we are still dependant on water and arcana? The reason cantrips are so good is because we have trait synergy to cure condis with regen, and grant regen with cantrips. We don’t know what traits are going to affect shouts.

We don’t know what the warhorn skills are yet.

The new mechanic will probably suck in 1v1. You’ll be focused naturally since it’s a 1v1, and the overload skills look to function better with allies or against a group. Imagine this, you just won a 1v1 at home and go to mid to help your team. By the time you get there, your air singularity is ready and you are able to cast it since the other team hasn’t recognized your presence yet, and you are able to get off a powerful attack for free.

The main thing, we don’t know what traits will affect overloading attunements yet. I doubt they would leave us with nothing considering it’s the mechanic tied to the trait tree. People are acting like we are constantly going to be using the singularity. I see it being used if you can’t break through the enemy, sit in fire for a bit, cast overload and hit armor of earth to turn the fight in your favor.

I think we can expect traits to help us cast safely as well as lowering cast time and cooldown away from attunements.

Stop acting like you know everything just because the warhorn turned you into a bag of salty salt salt.

Since I love answering questions (but not silly ones) I will answer:

1. What does elementalist lack? DPS? No; Support? No; Good auto-attacks? No, oh wait, I want impale and vapor blade hit as much as fireball or lightning whip! Why does fire auto-attacks and air auto-attacks hit more than the others? Because it’s their niche, heavily damage dealing.
2. Do you know what happens when you coordinate an attack or defense? It happens that you won’t fail it whenever you don’t miscalculate your moves. Let’s see this example: you’re low on HP and your enemy notices you’re about to conclude a healing skill and then he/she uses a stun skill to stop you = BAM! u’r screwed!
3. Ironically, I’m (you) a bad player who wants something REALLY easy to use and godlike power, like…well Lich?
4. Coordination short of mind sharing…not worth commenting.
5. Cantrips are defensive moves, how to compare offensive moves with defensive moves when both differ from each other
6. Dependancy of arcane and/or water: it’s not true to state that water or arcane provides the only worth defense to an elementalist: you can still clear your conditions with other skills, you just have to suit it with your playstyle

Right lemme start at the beginning

they only have ONE Supportive ability the Elite, the shouts are Damage, the Abilities are all Pure damage, it is OBVIOUS that the kitten Elite is a Zerker will people kitten about it being “support” it doesnt even LOOK SUPPORT let alone fecking have anything in it worth support.

YES the elite is a CD Reduction, Just like Chronomancers have Alacrity, everyone has been given buffs in ALL elites so far it hasnt made them support, dont be so ridiculous to try claim Just because its a warhorn it has ANY Reason to be linked with Support.

How is Singularity Overloading Any of the Shouts Wildfire or Dust storm have ANY capability in Supporting?…. how are they even LINKED to support, it was obvious there would be a SLICE of Support in elementalists, Water is SUPPORT and ALL weapons have supportive/healing capabilities within the Water attunement.

Its a ZERKER Specc, if u want to finally not be a Sustain bunker with Decent Damage and Want to blow people up like other proffessions do this is your Specialization if your really not going to buy it BECAUSE it has a element of support in it then ur ridiculous, Elementalists have and Always will be a Jack of All Trades holding something for EVERY role, this is to make up for the lack of Weapon Swap among other things.

Explain then please, How does the tempest suck? please give us a Indetail Valid Correct statement and Gameplay Proof that u can use to back up ur Accusation Against a Specc which does not even Exist in the game right now? that is Completely balanced for a COMPLETELY different to the expansion then the current one? that is applied to a completely different Power creep Stat Stacking Runes Armour Defence Damage %s to the current one u play on..

U act as if this Elite is for the CURRENT game and it isnt, you have no idea WHAT will work and will not work UNTIL you see what changes Numbers wise in the expansion so dont act as if u know EXACTLY what will and will not happen, u know maybe 3% of Some Mechanics being added and a Few Elite Speccs.

Numbers wise, this does NOT have any more negatives then any other proffessions elite currently has, Reaper = No mobility no Leap and without melee range cannot actually do ANYTHING useful, Dragonhunter is some sorta Combination of Support and Ranger Pushed into 1 Skillset and Chronomancer Looks like some sorta Buffing Supporter with some More shatters. Which boon stripping would nullify instantly.

That’s true. But once they saw how it was landing, was it really worth it to go back and start all over to try to get something useful for all three areas?

The fact is that it’s looking like it’s not going to be good for PvP. But that can be said of a LOT of builds, it’s just the nature of the game. I see no harm in one of the elite specs being that way.

(Also, we’ve not actually seen the warhorn in action yet. It’s quite possible that people will go Tempest in PvP for that, and simply avoid using Overcharge.)
