I’ve played an ele since release and have taken the RTL changes gracefully, it was too strong to begin with.

Now? I’m in pure shock and awe. I can’t keep up with warriors. I can’t catch rangers with sword. As scepter/dagger, I can’t even leap off of tall places to gain extra distance, it really doesn’t feel like 1200, and you still get an RTL rubberband at the end of it, so it may as well be 900 with having to make the distance up (mind you I have a powerful computer with a fast connection).

Went out for a little bit in WvW, it feels totally useless. This hurts, guys.

I hope this doesn’t sound like a complaining post, I don’t mean it to be, I just wanted to inform. Good luck to you all.

Talking about WvW here:
There is no right time to heal when just standing there, we already have about 66% the health you have and die in 2-3 hits and we always die first when we are not behind.

The problem with this nerf is that it doesn’t affect stats, it affects the core of the playing mechanics. Now all we can do is hide behind, or do more bunker builds instead of balancing stats. They are breaking their game.

just because you havent figured out a right time or playstyle yet doesnt mean it doesn’t exist. be a good player and figure it out and destroy the people that cant adapt to change. MMO’s always change but maybe this is your first MMO. Most good players can adapt and still win, while the bad fotm kids normally just die and switch to the next fotm forum op class. the choice is yours.

Is it just me? RTL range feels shorter than 1200. But I think it’s almost there so that’s not that big of a deal. What got me kitten was that blocks,evades and invul all make it go to a 40 second recharge. Which is so lame. Only usefulness out of it now is to disengage a battle.

I think block, dodges, blinds and invulnerability activate the long cooldown (tested the last 2 myself). So, my decision to the problem is:
1. Play a bunker build, the changes did not affect my build AT ALL and RTL was an important part of my nuke build.
2 Use RTL only to escape, because, why the hell should I risk a 40 sec cooldown when I engage…

Personally, think that’s not what was intended…

Just tried it in WvW, still kinda speechless. It’s even worse than I imagined. I now officially can’t catch anyone that knows how to dodge a Magnetic Grasp (if I ever get in range of Grasp, that is), while trying to run from anything that isn’t an AI controlled trash mob is a pretty pointless endeavour.

Those balance guys over at ANet must be complete inbred imbeciles. This stuff has to be hotfixed within 24 hours, holy kitten.

Stopped playing D/D in march when it just became so boring. In sPvP I use S/D so IDC about /D skills. At least buff meteor shower lol or give more blast finishers. In GW1 the long casting time had it’s benefits (more hits & KD on hit). In GW2 it’s complete garbage. S/F or Staff Ele all day.

Mist form and RTL was one of the few useful things as elementalist.
Its still a fun character to play, but I feel kinda useless close to how powerful other characters can be specially in damage output.

Even tho ele has the best aoe, the damage is still ridiculous if you wanna use a build that make you SURVIVE for more than 2 seconds.

Then at least we could run and survive a bit, but now, I can’t imagine myself keeping my 2x dagger build in a wvw fight… totally useless…

But hey! ANET is still buffing warriors so whats the point?

I actually felt like a jerk just using the new RTL.

I used it in LA, saw the huge distance decrease (has that rubber band effect on RTL that you notice even more with the distance decrease), saw that after RTL toward the bank I wasn’t even gonna be using it to go back to the TP. Then I logged off.

Apparently I was OP at visiting npcs in lion’s arch pre patch and it’s a good thing they took care of it.

I’ve been saying this for yonks and yonks and yonks. D/D Ele mobility is overrated and Warrior/Ranger (espesh GS War) mobility is severely underrated. The only catch was that you couldn’t chill/cripple an RtL the way you could to stop a War, but now that RtL got hit any advantage the Ele had is more or less gone.
