Regeneration worth it?
Regeneration is so weak because it’s only an addition to active healing. It’s not worth to get a lot of healing power if your only sustain is going to be regeneration.
It’s not so much the quality of healing, but the quantity.
For the 866HP over 7 sec period, don’t forget you’ve also got a small heal when you swap to water + Soothing Mist gives you 80 HP/sec after 3 seconds upon swapping to water which lasts 9 seconds and refreshes every 3 seconds. If you have a healing skill in your water skills as well, these all add up.
Alone, all that won’t fill up your HP but it’s meant to supplement your main heal and/or delay the point where using your heal is needed.
IMO, lots of healing power isn’t needed to get mileage out of regen and healing but if you do slot healing power, it’ll boost all those heals.
Also consider Boon Duration. With longer lasting boons, the regen lasts longer and therefore heals for more overall…but it also lengthens your might stacks, your fury, your vigor, etc.
Yah thats true I suppose, and Im gonna try it for a while anyway because I was already running the might stack cantrip build until I discovered Soothing Disruption too. Plus for the might + vigor alone its worth it I suppose the regen will just be a bonus. Ill look into working in some boon duration to help it out.
I used to run with spellslinger too, worked pretty well for charging up and defending y’r churning earth spell from knock backs and such.
I was working on a build when I stumbled up something that I thought would be quite a nifty build. It involves using all three cantrip skills + Sooting Disruption + Spell Slinger traits. Spell slinger makes it so when you use a cantrip you get 3 stacks of might. Soothing Disruption makes it so when you use any of those cantrips you get regeneration and vigor. So I figured this would be a great build as at any time I could pop a skill and have instant DPS gain, while healing up any dmg, and being able to dodge out of more dmg faster.
The only problem Ive found with this is that the regeneration seems negligible. For example. Regens formula is:
5 + (1.5625 * Level) + (0.125 * Healing Power)Im currently level 68 with 100 healing power. That makes it 123.75 hp a second for the full 7 seconds would let me regen about 866 hp out of my 12,400 total hp. While that is not afwul it is very slow and hardly noticable, especially if you take another hit it pretty much would have made no difference. But of course that is a very low healing power, what if I were to drop a bunch of equipment or runes into healing power to make the difference. So I substitued mt 100 healing power for 1000, not even sure if thta attainable, to see what changes it would make.
5 + (1.5625 * 68) + (0.125 *1000) = 236.25 * 7 = 1653.75.So in other words I would have to have 10x the healing power just to double the hp regened. And even then its only 1600 out of 12,000 hp regened over a 7 second period. Plus at that point I would have to be pretty much spec’d for healing power instead of power/vit/etc. So is that really worth even using?
The thing about healing power eles is that the regeneration boon isn’t our only form of regen. Looking at the actual stats on my ele with Cleric/magi gear I get about 320 from the signet, regen will tick for 280 and the regen from water attune gives me 140, add these up and you get 740hp/sec roughly in combat, that doesn’t even include the 2.5k heal just for switching into water or evasive arcana for that matter. The crazy amount of healing going on for healing power eles makes for being incredibly tanky, which I thoroughly enjoy I currently have 1160 healing power so im not even maxed out on it either, got some PVT gear mixed in for the extra toughness and vitality atm.

Regeneration is actually very strong with some healing power investment because it will rival or exceed what some main heals do over the same time period.
I have 753 healing power with full stacks of life, and I have only one piece of gear that provides healing power without an upgrade. 700+ is only from traits, runes, a sigil and one celestial earring.
Glyph of elemental harmony= 4894+(.75 * 753)=5458
Regeneration= 130 + (.125 * 753)= 224 per second
Glyph cooldown is 25 seconds, so it will heal for 5458 over 25 seconds. Regeneration over that same 25 seconds would heal for 5600. Every 25 seconds of regen is an extra cast of my main heal; regeneration is good. While you are thinking that 200 hp per second isn’t worth the investment, your enemies are already on the forum demanding that eles be nerfed because they are immortal.
