Ride the Lightning - WTF?
I am pretty sure that RtH has been like this for a while. You are probably 5 months late to that nerf patch.
Make a super-telegraphed skill that is more useful for its mobility than damage linked to actually scoring a hit with it. Just chock full of great balance ideas.
It needs 2 forms. One, where if you have something targeted it teleports you to them instantly, and deals damage; and two, where you have nothing selected and it acts as the current travel one. The first form would trigger a 15 second cooldown, the second a 30 second one.
This question understandably comes up every time the old one leaves page 1
And will no doubt continue to do so.
The answer to all ‘why was X nerfed?’ questions is : it had an undesired effect on structured pvp at that time.
In the case of RTL I think it was an orb on a map called Spirit Watch that an ele was just too good at carrying. PVPers will remember.
It really is ridiculous that rtl has remained neutered this entire time in pve and wvw because of a single silly spvp map imbalance. It’s not fair that because this happened in the era before they began splitting skills, it is stuck like this in all game modes. I am convinced that they will eventually revert it in pve and wvw, but it has already been an unforgivably long time. They need to change it yesterday.

Well, that would be still too weak compared to other classes…. And if you take the bugginess of all “teleport” skills in-game in consideration, I rather not have teleport on this ability.
Ranger still has 12 sec CD on a mobility skill with range 1100, so until RTL is 20 secs or less without any condition, it’s worthless….
Dude we all know nerfing RTL was the worse decision Anet made with this game.
The person who made that decision, whoever it is, was surely having a bad day.
