Guild Wars 2

I play S/D DPS for PvE and while I don’t run pure glass cannon, I am starting to feel squishy as I get into the 20s.

What specs do you guys that run Fractals often (20+) run for S/D? I’m not a fan of Arcana heavy builds in PvE. I would like 30 in fire and to use this as my main source of damage.

I run a 15/0/0/25/30 with PVT armor, zerker weps and trinkets (for the most part, my ascended stuff is half zerker half PVT basically). At 25 stacks of might even though I’m not full zerkers my CE still crits for over 8k, DT and most of my other blasts crit for 3-5k (DT, Ring, etc). Lightning bolt hits for about 2500. It has all the tanky abilities of a D/D ’daPheonix" ele (without the aurashare) but substantially more damage output.

I run a lot of fotm with guys from my guild, most of the high level guys I run with are melee damage (two warriors, a guardian and another ele is my main group) so I just run a might stacking dps build (my other ele runs S/D too) and we do great. Sometimes I’ll run a support staff build if my ele buddy is also running S/D.

I’ve played with something very similar to that, and I almost feel pigeon holed into it. It’s a faux support build with gimped DPS. Also water/arcane heavy is what I run in PVP. Sadly it’s one of our best specs but it just gets old.

Is something like the Krakatoa build viable in this situation? heavy fire and heavy earth for both DD and conditions and toughness… balance our with crit/vitality gear?
