Hi, guys.
Well, i’ve playing the game as ele for some time and started scepter/focus for a test and loved it. It does well in spvp, and is fun. My problem are the 1v1 situations. Not all the 1v1 fights, only when i fight some resistant build, like guardians in general, some warriors and engineers. These guys just slowly kill me.
Can I have some tips of what using against then? Like specializations, traits, skills, combos, whatever. I need help. What do you do when they resist to your combo?

I assume you are running S/F Fresh Air?

That’s usually played as a burst build, judging by the build at metabattle, you are supposed to immoblize target with Signet of Earth, drop your dragon tooth, swap to air attunement and cast Air #2.

But in gameply in general, as Fresh Air, shoul i go all offense? Like hitting my air 1 and 2 like hell and comboing all around?
Because it feels like if i stay defensive a few i will lose advantage. The gameplay is about pressuring hard?

I never play with signet of earth, just except you are nog going to land dragon tooth. Ever. Marauder fresh air ele van be ok, but the damage doesnt match those of other high burst classes. Agains t bunkers you will have a disadvantage, against invis and condi as well. Its a great and fun build, bug its not meta and the hardest to pilot out there, so don’t expect easy fights. Press the advantage against burst specs before they kill you, but be careful around sustain builds and know wich fights to pick.

I’ve found that fresh air burst ele just isn’t as good as it once was (sigil nerfs, traits moved around in air line, burst not buffed the same as some other builds). It can still kill people, and is fun to play, but compared to what it was versus the rest of the popular builds it has lost a bit of effectiveness. 1v1 situations can be rough against certain builds; especially the sword/torch, P/U, confounding suggestions mesmer. They are already ranged with a lot of defenses and more burst than you’ll have on even lower cooldowns.

I find my best matchups are against anything I can kite around for at least small parts of the fight. Otherwise, you may have a rough time if the player is decent.

You just need to really learn how to maximize everything the build has to offer, learn how to do all-in combos and more importantly when to do them and when not to, an all in combo would be something like using Earth 2 and 4 offensively, burning every skill (Lightning flash on top of them for offense etc), chaining all the CC with the hard to land burst skills on fire etc. You can do all this invulnerable at 50 HP with earth 5. As others said the build is not what it used to be tho, I sugges you consider S/D Lightning Rod or something like that if you want to burst with an ele. For S/F Fresh Air I actually really enjoy playing it with Celestial ammy, Superspeed on air trait and Glyph of Elemental Power + Burning Precision so you get free 3 stacks of burn every 5sec inbetween all the fresh air spamming.
