So lately I’ve been having a hard time in PvP as D/D 0/0/2/6/6. I do the common rotation of air>fire>earth>water, and capitalize on combo fields.

This build just doesn’t feel rewarding. I can do my combo’s, blazing speed/lightning combo effectively, CC/knock people back, and I’ll usually still get rocked while not putting out much damage at all. I’ve been using a Celes amulet.

Is it wrong of me to feel that I’m doing so much work for hardly any output of damage? My lightning whip hits for 1K crits when I’m lucky and if I have 15 stacks of might, which I’ve been hard pressed to maintain lately.

How else will I be might stacking and doing combos? Ele seems to have a pretty set rotation.

Ele doesn’t have a rotation. Unless you are that guy who does air4+air5 every time. You can chain some your skills if you want, but you can do it in numerous ways or don’t do at all if it isn’t effective. That’s the point of ele gameplay. If you want do to something like air4 air5 fire 3 fire5 fire4 earth4 earth2 water3 air1 and win you’re lazy and going to be punished by every experienced player.

Yesterday I’ve picked the D/D for the really first time and I found it quite ridiculous.

Playing without any greater experience in daggers gave me 2/3v1 fights I was able to handle with some random rotations.

The damage is also pretty neat, as single Burning Speed can crit for over 4k.

As for rotations, with occassional dagger #4 in earth into ring of fire or EA earth dodge and no proper rotation, I maintained around 20 might stacks all the time with Strenght runes. It comes by itself.

Ele doesn’t have a rotation. Unless you are that guy who does air4+air5 every time. So then what in the hell should I be doing instead? You point out what I shouldn’t be doing so very well, but I’d really like some input on what I could be doing instead.

I’d also like to point out that I don’t know how that rotation is considered lazy. It’s a total of 13 buttons (counting attunement swaps) when a common rotation on another class is 3 or 4. If that’s what you consider lazy, I don’t even want to know what you consider a Thief or Warrior…

I’ve been using the sigil of battle, and I like how it stacks quickly. I just realized I was using a strength sigil and that’s probably why I wasn’t stacking as quickly.That might be my issue. Also, is Celestial the way to go, or would Zerker prove to be good as well if I need more damage output?

Changed my sigil, used a celestials, all I did was die. Spvp isn’t fun when getting focused all the time. Thinkin I should just take a break from the game. I don’t do enough damage and just die all over the place.

Well, you should learn your spells and arrange them thoughtfully in short, well timed and situational sequences. Parts of that big chain from previous post are nice examples of such sequences but it doesn’t mean that you must always use firegrab after burning speed after updraft or blast ring of fire with earthquake. Try to firegrab people while burning them with cleansing fire or blast burning speed’s firefield. A lot of possibilities actually.

Thanks! I’ll try changing it up to keep enemies on their toes. Is the only blast finisher on Evasive Arcana in earth? D/D is so much more complex than non-ele’s think.

Also, Zerkers or Celestials? I’ve been really indecisive about this one lately. If I’m always getting focused and want to bunker more, Celes seems suitable, but I’ve been having a hard time putting out lots of damage with a Celes. 1v1’s usually end with either a teammate, or my enemies teammate coming in and finishing the fight. Otherwise, a 1v1 is usually a stalemate for me.

Pls dont do “The rotation” cause it ll stick to your head and will keep you a mediocre ele at best even after many many hours .Trust me
Theres no point to go through air to use fire.Burning speed can be used reactively or even in a ligthing flash combo wihtout using ccs,same with firegrab and rof.Updraft is instant activation and you should delay it till you see something worthwile to interrupt and then burst.Just auto in air as long as you can till youfind the right moment..i know the urge to constantyl swap is too much :P
Theres no point going into water if you dont need to ,although against pure direrct damage(and only) its better to have it on cd if theres no risk to get maximum sustain throught the minor and regen proc.
Ring of earth still blocks projectiles (as in 1week ago that i last played this game) so use it reactively ..even if you are miles away from the enemy and it wont hit it can be more than worth it and save a lot of damage(it even blocks engi nades) .
Dont spam earthquake on cd especially if you cant follow it up and jsut stack might with earth dodge.
If you break line of sight for a bit and want to heal up and you are running with signet heal ,bind seathe weapons.Cast air auto and cancel right as the cast bar finishes and then press1 again and repeat.Its 550 hps without taking account water minor and regen .
If you fight a glass canon dont focus on might stacking.If you fight something that is tanky you can give up some of the reactive portion of your play to do the might rotations.Also chill is wonderfull in long fights.
If we were to fight on a point and you did the rotation you ssaid i would definately kill you..just by swaping to water right after you swapped out of it and use frost aura and the frost burst,and glyph of elem power in water delaying your next major heal and coming ahead.
Also if you run with pet elite,the water version puts frost fields you can combo to get ridiculous long frost auras together with your own in the weaponset.
Theres a lot going on especially when you take into account what class you fight.
But seriously it has insane recover time paired with mobility and decent sustain damage.People saying they can take 3 people solo in hot joins dont lie..(at least notall of them)
I forgot..Burn ,burn and then burn some more

Wow that’s some good advice. Thanks a lot! What’s good to follow Earthquake up with? I had no idea ring of earth reflected projectiles. Do you like to use zerkers or celes?
