Satisfied with my Ele, where to go from here?
Thief was my first main, and it’s still a class I enjoy. Like the Ele, it’s a lot of fun, although sometimes the rewards don’t compensate for the risk.
I’ve heard others say that they really enjoy Mesmer and Engineer, although I don’t have enough experience with either class to say much on them.
By Ogden’s hammer, what savings!
The current consensus is that every speed-run group ought to have at least 2 wars. So if you want to get into groups, roll a war. Other useful classes are mes, guard, and thief. Unfortunately, in PvE at least, rangers, engi’s, and necros are just not needed – although there is 1 build for engi and 1 for ranger which are semi-acceptable in speed runs.
I like playing my mes most. All the evades/blocks are great – waaaaaay better than carrying that stupid, nerfed invuln that only lasts for 3 secs with a 75 sec CD. And watching your feedback make Lupi or Malrona kill themselves is simply fantastic. So is 1-shotting fractal bosses. You just feel totally OP.
You can’t go wrong with Guardian/Warrior for dungeon running.
If you prefer more of a challenge though, I would play a Mesmer. Mesmers are often saught in dungeon groups as well, mostly for Time Warp and Signet of Inspiration.
Warrior has the greatest dps of those three clases.
Guardian is better at overall support than the other two.
Mesmer has the highest skill ceiling of the three.
Norn Guardian – Aurora Lustyr (Lv 80)
Mia A Shadows Glow – Human Thief (Lv 80)
Learn a new spec. Try D/D. I bet once you fall in love with that, you’ll buy a whole new set of ascended gear, and you’ll want incinerators.

So I ask you, my fellow elementalists, which class do you all like to play when you’re not rolling as the ele?
Elementalist was my second profession before I went to Engineer. I played Engineer for months and months but recently came back to ele. Engineer is a barrel of fun for what it can give you. I prefer power builds because they often come packed with a lot of CC from rifle and utility skills.
Or if this is too off topic, what further goals do you suggest for an ele that doesn’t want a legendary?
I’m waiting for ascended armor because fashion.
Hey guys. After picking up GW2 a while ago during one of the weekend sales (actually it was the free weekend that ended with ~20% off I think), I’ve been playing my Sylvari Elementalist pretty regularly. I’ve gotten to 80, made my ascended staff, and already picked up my first ascended trinket. Now it’s just a daily grind to get laurels, the daily lvl 10 fractal chest, and weekly guild missions for the rest of my ascended trinkets.
I don’t see much point in The Bifrost, so I don’t have anything to really spend my money on other than making more money in the TP. I have been thinking recently of making a new character, probably a human this time. I’m wondering about the profession though, and can’t really decide between Guardian or Warrior. It seems that dungeons really favor a guardian, or at least, 1+ guardians make dungeons much easier for the rest of the party.
So I ask you, my fellow elementalists, which class do you all like to play when you’re not rolling as the ele?

My suggestions is learn all the weapon sets. I myself have not found another class that can keep my attention like my elementalist, so I decided to try and learn it inside and out. If you play all parts of the game there are some incredible builds solely focused on each.
I use to only run D/D and its still great for roaming WvW, but wasn’t the best in dungeons. From there I tried some of the build posted on these forums and really enjoyed a S/D build, spec’d full zerker and blasted through dungeons (and got pretty talented at staying alive with little protection which only increased my skills with a standard D/D build), from there I went staff to learn as much as I could there, both dungeons and WvW.
Currently I’m working with D/F. Probably one of the most interesting/tricky weapon sets to play for an Elem.
In short, there is so much to learn with an Elem that even the mundane chores of farming, dungeon running, etc can feel refreshed by different weapons and builds.
For dungeon runs, either Warrior or Guardian will do just fine. Both are always in demand in parties. But Warriors are definitely more in demand, some people will kick you out of CoF runs if you aren’t a warrior. Warriors are ALWAYS welcome in any dungeon run party.
I am currently raising a Warrior, Eles are fine and all but sometimes I want to, you know, actually survive taking a few hits.
I also have a Mesmer, which is great, but limiting when it comes to walking speed and AoE damage. Great for 1v1s though. In PVE, also good but only for small mobs. Crowds will give you a fit.
As for what else to do with your Ele… from your post it seems you are only doing PVE. Are you doing WvW or PvP? Those are excellent timesinks if you’re not in the mood for PVE grinding in Fractals or Dungeons, or just calmly exploring the map.

Yes, yes it is. I think it’s great fun, though.

[…]So I ask you, my fellow elementalists, which class do you all like to play when you’re not rolling as the ele?
My other main is an Engineer. I have a lot of fun with the different kits (which can sometimes require as much button mashing as an Ele.)
I have a ranger. Which I enjoy lots of evades =). But there is something weird about my S/D ele and is because is so active you have very little space to auto attack you are always doing something combining skills.
Haven’t try engi yet but I heard if you like doing combos they are the ones.
Engi and thief I find fun.
I’m making an ascended staff now (or in the process to). Already got an ascended dagger and a focus.
Not sure why would you stop just with a staff, do you even use other weapons?
Ele & thief main (full ascended)
Down with the braindead faceroll classes.
