I think that the fire #1 skill is certainly lack luster. However the air #1 skill is great, imo. It does decent damage while you can cast the #2 and the blind when you need it.
Fire #1 also burns.
Earth #1 also bleeds.
Water skills often have lame damage. It’s part of the concept.
Air #1 is just really, really stupid, especially as it’s bugged.
With the S/D i use alot of fire, except for skill #1 of fire because it hits teribble.

You really don’t like Air #1? It’s a great damage filler between the dragon’s tooth/phoenix→… combo.
Air #1 numbers have never impressed me much.
And the bug is very annoying.

I think the Air number 1 skill throws alot of people off because of the big number it throws out at the end. You have to realize the number is the combined damage from every lightning whip hit. when it goes like 800, 1200, 1800..etc, you really only did 1800 damage total, not 3,800. Next time your using it, don’t use lightning strike or any other air skills, just use the auto attack, you will see that its actually quite weak, and barely does anything to their health bar.
With a critical build the Ice shards does about 600+ damage (x3 shards=1800)
Air 1 damage is ABYSMAL and needs serious work from Anet.
Fire 1 also needs more up-front damage.
Earth 1 is the strongest, but needs to fire a bit faster (like most elementalist spells).
Water 1 is great for spamming homing blasts to tag everything, and probably out-damages the horrible air 1 with the right set-up.
