Hello,

I like to create builds and made this one but I lack the skill to effectively make use of it.

So I’m looking for experienced and talented elementalists to show how to effectively use this build.

Please try it first. The gameplay is basically sticking to the opponnent as long as possible using the highest number of skill possible. Made possible through permanent pbaoe chill. And I mean permanent as in they have chill on them for as long as they’re alive.
Chose arcane shield for the extra blast after it expires, chose the glyph because if you use it while in air it’ll give some very good weakness up time. I chose the cantrip obviously to clear conditions from me when earth focus 4 isn’t available.

Cantrip mastery synergizes well with spell slinger, Zypher’s boon is going to provide better returns opposed to bolt to the heart. Cleansing wave + evasive arcana = 2 condi removals every 10 seconds, which is the minimum I’d run personally. I chose hydromancy sigil because it applies damage as well as chills. Sunspot is not worth going 15 in fire, Electric discharge is much better. Not sure why you had lava tomb traited…

I would personally take 1 point out of fire and change that first fire trait to spell slinger, and put that extra point in either earth and get the trait that gives stability to very one around you or, put it into water for the little regeneration you get when you switch to water attunemeant. Also I would use some other runes, maybe strength or fire, and take advantage of the burning in that glyph rather than the chill. And if you do that switch the amulet to celestial, it’s just to good not to use for elementalist.

the lava tomb on average saves my life 2-8 times every game. It allows a zerker ele to do a ton of damage while in downed state. Plus if you wait for a couple seconds the ICD will expire and you can mistform and trigger it again.
Those are all the standard traits :p

The bolt to the heart+lava tomb combination gives 53% extra damage if you gave them enough damage while going down.

oh man… there’s a few VERY good elem builds out there right now but this doesn’t quite reach their level. here’s one for dag/focus (created by cryo)

this is ONLY for high damage. it’s good for dueling and such but not ideal in big team fights.

I do that because in pvp its never a fair fight you are bound to go down no matter how much survivability or damage you bring. Why not continue to do damage and be a threat while being down? Why give up there? And that at the cost of a mere 10 points is quite ideal to me.

Also its a D/F build not a dd.

Used that one for a while, its very nice and it is why I’ve incorporated glyph of elemental power into my build.

However, you’re really not doing very well with Lava Tomb if you’re not also running Persisting Flames and Blasting Staff, which together greatly increase the effectiveness of the Lava Font it creates.
I’m really enjoying running with Lava Tomb as a zerker Staff, but I really can’t see it being effective without very high power (and good crit) along with those traits to significantly increase its range and duration. You should be aiming to kill people before they down you in almost all cases, and running the trait on its own is just daft.

Yep. It is a build by EvilSnowflake that inspired me, and then Malcastus suggested the GoEP-BA combo. I’m very new to pvp but this has been working marvelously for me so far

I tried a similar build to yours a while ago that was based on high chill uptime. It didn’t really work for me. It was surprisingly weak in team-fights and also didn’t bring enough damage or support to be on par with other builds.
Another problem is that eles usually lack conditions to cover up the conditions they want to keep on the target so your chill will often be easily cleansed. You only have some burn, bleed and vulnerability mainly from autoattacks that are otherwise terribly weak.

Actually I find that not covering up our conditions does work in our favour somehow.

The meta is so condition bursty that people are used to cleansing in bulk. If you are able to reply just one condition (burning, in my case) constantly then most people will face a hard choice: removing it asap or waiting for more condis to come. If they wait then they take the damage, which is what we intend to do; if they cleanse it then they are wasting their resources (over-cleanse). So if you can survive the initial clash you will win in the long term.

Yeah, only a really bad Thief, who isn’t expecting it, will die to your Lava Tomb after ganking you. They have so many evades, teleports and general movement skills – usually they’ll Withdraw away as soon as you’re downed, if they know to expect it (and the delayed first tick on Lava Font gives them plenty of time to do that).

You really are better off picking another offensive or defensive trait to spend those points on, if that’s your reasoning for running Lava Tomb.

if its that easy why then has only one thief been able to stomp me since I took this trait a week ago. so in 100+ games only one thief… Every other thief that tried to stomp me got killed. Only tanky classes are able to stomp you if you take that trait.
Then the mistform also works as a weaponswap activating the appropriate sigils then when you fall down the lava font is activated a second time.

yeah I met a guardian that used that concept. Having read about the concept on the forums before I was aware that I needed to regularly remove the burning. Its not as strong as the condition burst but its a constant creepy thing to fight against.
I guess that’s also what the D/F celestial build is set around.

Any competent Thief won’t try to stomp you – they’ll dps you from range with their shortbow. Unless you can down them before you get downed yourself (which means they don’t get to try to stomp you) or you can do serious damage to them once you get downed while they’re within your font (very unlikely without zerker gear and more dps traits) you’ll not win against any but the worst Thieves.

Really, it’s not a trait to rely on if you want to win against anyone who knows that it exists or who can react at all well to a field appearing under their feet – you’re a huge amount better off bringing a different trait to improve your not-downed dps or survivability.
