i havnt made a roaming or dueling video in a while due to lack of interest but recently i found my self excited to play again. so i decided to once again make more roaming and dueling videos.
Not bad. Seen better though. How many Ascended you running? You have 2 Legendary weapons which is a very big buff to damage compared to Exotic. I am guessing at least 90% Crit Damage as well.
from what i can tell u got 30 in water (aoe aura) 30 in arcan(dodge roll thingy) and 10 in air(fury and swiftness on aura) am i right?:o
btw someone can tell mewich gears r good for roaming as d/d ? and also runes if possible , i wanna roam w my ele but cause i am lacking gears i dont rly feel like doing it:(
It’s a traditional 0/10/0/30/30 d/d build. The big variation is in the armor with some sort of celestial/zerk or valk/magi/soldier/zerk mix, it’s probably the latter. Sigil of battle and most likely accuracy.
Thanks for sharing the vid…but what is it with eles not sharing builds? This is the second video I’ve seen posted by an ele that refused to share their build. I’ve played this game since beta and have been a regular follower of the forums the whole time, but I have never seen anyone refuse to share their build until I started following the ele section. =/
It’s too bad you don’t have a community here like Guardians and Thieves do.
Yeah.. We don’t need a hundred eles running around with gearsets identical to ours.. People who just need to jack other setups are too lazy to test their own.
The QQ is hard here. The ele community doesn’t coddle those who can’t keep up, but we are possibly the kindest and closest knit.
I know some of the top eles across all servers talk to each other on a very regular basis.
It’s not about coddling or about whether or not you can figure out someone’s build without them sharing.
Showing off your play and then saying that you won’t share your build is like saying “Hey check out this new book I bought!” then throwing it on the ground instead of handing it to them. Sure, you can pick up the book and see it just fine, but it’s a pretty crappy attitude.
And I’m sure there are good eles. There are good people in every community…but the community overall here seems to be pretty needlessly secretive.
How? How is showing off your skill taunting or showing a “crappy attitude” you have a choice to watch or not watch as well as eles have the choice to share or not share.
I personally spent 150 gold on test gear, and easily another 100 gold on the gear I use now.
Serane likely spent more. We each buildcraft for hours at a time to improve our play and our builds.
So you wonder why builds don’t get shared? Why doesn’t coke share their recipe?
There’s a difference between talking shop, like I do with eles who PM me or mail me on a frequent basis for help, and giving people a free pass on doing their due diligence.
Eh, if you feel like people should have to jump through hoops for info that could easily be available through a single post, then that’s your prerogative.
I’m sure making people jump through hoops helps your own personal sense of justice that you feel people owe you, but in the large scheme of things, it just slows down people who want to learn and stifles free discussion, which leads to improvement.
Besides, I can guarantee you that it’s a lot easier to make one post explaining a build somewhere than to individually coach everyone who wants to learn from you (well…depending on how many people there are that think you have something to learn from).

i wont be aggressive but i rly want help, i wanna be able to survive and deal decent dmg
and some ppl cant afford to pay so much for gears like myself, started like 2-3 months ago w gw2 and still got tons stuff i wanna buy /test /etc

These vids are entertaining as heck, in my opinion. I don’t know if I’ll ever wind up making them (lag too much while screen recording) but while yes they’re about showing off, they’re also a hobby in and of themselves. I’m a news guy, so I produce videos on a daily basis, so maybe that’s why I get so much entertainment out of them.
Thing is, I share quite a bit in game. I don’t link my gear set to strangers, but why should I? Why should you? But I’ve seen too many examples of things gone wrong with sharing on the forums to advocate for it.
That’s all I’ll say on the topic.. Glad you support player initiative though.
Dahkeus does have a point. It is kind of pathetic to act like your build is secret or some really awesome thing that needs to be protected. It’s not like some guy used a turret engineer to solo 10 people. You’d still be a kitten for not explicitly sharing it, but at least you’d have a unique build going which makes the “it’s a secret” attitude more understandable. This is a cantrip ele that skewed his gear towards offense. It would take one whole Google search to find a build that is nearly identical. If it took 150 gold and hours theorycrafting to come up with that, you’re doing something wrong.
Plus, most eles are running similar set-ups just like most people that play every other profession. You distinguish yourself from other people by being competent.

I’m done talking about the other topic, like I said. But this truly is where being the best at ele reveals itself. People shouldn’t even care about gear as much as they do.
Serane, the best d/d Ele I know.. Build along doesn’t make the player. Others can run the same build/gear and still don’t perform as good. I felt the same way with not sharing build back when most of the eles were dd and didn’t know how burst with this profession without being glassy. I always find that on every mmo, skillful players never ask for builds, they always create their own or enhance/customize existing ones.
Heidia- The elementalist is the #1 most OP profession in this game since beta!
I believe it is agg guild policy to not share builds I believe for GvG purposes. My guild doesn’t share our GvG builds. Builds are a very intricate part of GvG’s. Could just be a NA thing because I know chemsorly shared his build.
Roaming builds I personally don’t care but some do
I do agree that the guardian forums are great I thought that also long before I made one but brutality’s 30 valor sticky doesn’t give you a exact gear selection just shows the stats with pics but the guide is great.
about builds. i dont like the idea of posting something i worked kitten so other people can use it without any kind of commitment, if you get what im saying. just a personal perference i guess. i help a lot of people out when they whisper me so if you questions just whisper me. my build i mean gear in this case
the thing you have to understand is that ele is all about preference. i like low hp pools hence the 15.3k base hp but that might not be your thing so the best advice i can give is to find where you are comfortable at and build around it
as for my traits, its standard 0/10/0/30/30
mostly because i dont change my build between guild raids and dueling cuz im lazy but it still works very well. (sorry azi, was an interesting guess :P)

I spent such time trying to dig through that video and figure it out… It was confusing me because I kept seeing 3x condis get cleared without switching in to water. But then I look again, and I can’t seem to find any places to bookmark for proof so maybe I just need to lay off the beer.

I know of a few knowledgeable and skilled ele’s on these forums from previous postings, videos, etc etc. and they are probably good, if not great…..But saying someone is a noob or saying this person is the best is non-sense. Thats like arguing who the best basketball player of all time is… I honestly think the best players are not on the forums.
If I had to make a suggestion for gear to a new ele (WvW), it would be grab some PVT gear. Once you get comfortable playing Ele start swapping pieces as needed.

The only time you will need ether renewal is against necromancer when they use that signet which applies like 8 conditions.
On another note the only class I think that counters Elementalist is S/D Thief as they rip your boons from you.

I mean, he/she only shows fight where his/her build is the rock against the cissor. What about condi-spec ? You dont show duel againt this kind of build cause you just cant do anything (or maybe you show this at the end, but i got tired before, anyway i bet 10gold you dont). I really hate this kind of video, where you “show off” THIS is the word cause you dont say a word about what owns you even if its just a matter of build, say it, cause here you’re just dishonest with the viewer (that why i say “showing off”).
I wont comment about your policy of “i’ll help in game not on the forum”, as i understand your point of view.

lol have you played vs a condition engi that knows how mask his conditions?4 condition removals are not even close to enough condition removal.Only way to defeat such builds (for me) is to take advantage of pillars and LoS.In open field you are pretty much done for unless you can dodge everything and manage to stay ontop of him.
All these people asking for his build……don’t you realize if he shares his build and everyone starts using it then we all get nerfed? You want that to happen to us even more? Anet wants us to be free lootbags. Well that’s my reason for never sharing any builds i use. Fear of further nerfs if other people start using it. I just block the people who pester me non stop in game begging for my builds when i kill them. The constant nerfs to our class have made me not as willing to help others as i used to be so i can understand that.
Perfectly Graendall, as Ele we HAVE TO use the field, so many player reproach me using the environment while duelling ^^

Oh i know its far from op, but try telling that to anet. look what a sorry state our class is in now. since when had the ever needed a sensible reason to nerf us? IMO ele has always been subpar compared to all other classes even when it was in our prime. people just never wanted to bother learning how to counter us. They only bothered learning how to counter us after the class destroying nerfs that killed build diversity. Rather than learning how to counter us, it was easier to cry OP and anet caved. im jsut sick of seeing that happen to a class that’s already on life support.
