So what go to class do you guys play?
Ele is my favorite class hands down, but my next favorite is Guardian personally. I’ve been playing my Revenant more recently and I’m really enjoying that for WvW roaming too.
Really depends on what you’re doing. Every class is good at something (except ranger) lol.

I guess something similar, I liked the guardian myself but found allot of the weapons boring and slow. I have been trying rev myself recently and dont have an opinion on it yet.
I haven’t liked my ele since HoT. D/D ele, the main reason I made my ele, is really weak in WvW now, and I have to run Tempest to be relevant despite not liking Tempest at all. Really started leaning towards my Necro, but the quarterly update destroyed my damage to the point where I can’t land a good hit on the tanky high mobility druid that can auto attack people to death with staff like it’s no big deal (/endrant).
Messing with condi warrior right now. Maybe I just like meta builds, but I really did want to try condi warrior, I just got the gear for it, and warrior’s sustain isn’t sad and weak anymore. I’m going to hold off on playing ele until the next elite spec probably. Overloads and Warhorns are not my thing.

Thief seems cool, I just cant get past the fact its so stabby stabby, I dont usually like rogue classes, also I hear its pretty much an auto attack class via endgame, well dodging and auto attacking anyways.
Thief is really fun in open world but it’s actual dps rotation in anything difficult is mind numbingly boring.
I like burnzerker warrior because it’s fun to press buttons on(but has almost no depth.
I realy love elementalist.
When my friends did get me to GW2, i asked them which class is the best to support my team and can heal well. They said staff ele. So i started as elmentalist.
Well while i like range, staff was not the right thing for me, it got booring fast. So i tired other wepon sets and came to scepter/focus and constructed a hybrid ele to counter the zerker meta last year. I a man earth fan, dislike playing water and play some kind of jack of all that is more damage oriented than healing.
I sometimes play warrior. Power based control warrior. I can´t play it good, but it´s a lot of fun unless oponents have perma stability :-). I even use boonrip sigil there to rip prot and/or stab and this guy realy kills fast and often the oponent is quite helpless and tossed around. I don´t play meta, i make my own builds and they usually work very well.
Here my fun warrior. I want to hit hard, but defy pain is just good. So this might be switched. Also as berserker taking stability on bersek is no fault, but those another +10% damage and the tount can be amazing and win a group fight. It can peel like hell too. Leap on the point into the fight, taunt with berserk and headbut someone wich will trigger the rune ! and you have +30% stun duration in the mace.
No stab or only one stack/breaker on oponents is like fight won for your team.
Some kills are like shield bash (dodged or break), head butt and game over …
And i tried hammer or sword. Nope rifle played best for me. The rifle butt alone is great and gunflame is CC too and i can fight ranged + build up a bit adrenaline.
Main issue with this build is to land important blows. So it´s unstable. Somtimes it´s just OMG flying corpses ripped apart by amazing bursts and enemy whiped and somtimes it just fails. But its a lot of fun. And i don´t need the long CD berserkers stance or endure pain … OK i pick berserkers stance if i see lots of condi classes …
The only thing i miss here is signet mastery. This would be amazing but can´t have it all :-).
If i take the warrior to WvW/PvE he wears knight armor and zerker weapons/trinkets.
It´s all about fun :-)

Elementalist’s favourite by far (mostly d/f pvp or d/w pve), with mesmer & engi being closest behind it.
My main has been an ele for 3 years. It was more fun back in the day because the difference between bad ones and good ones was like night and day. Now eles are still fun, but can get old if all you do is pvp with the meta build. Ele is good in all game modes so its safe to try, though not the typical mage class you are used to in other games.
I also enjoy playing ranger. I don’t know why I do, but it just feels rewarding to play one. IT might have something to do with them managing their skills more so than other classes which is similar to how ele plays.
Classes I don’t enjoy are warrior and mesmer. Warrior seems too simple and straightforward. Its easy to be okay at it, harder to become good at it.
Mesmer I never really enjoyed. I think the passiveness of it (other than dps shatter builds) is very boring.
Bad Elementalist
For a very long time I played only engineer. I made it on day 1 and knew nothing about the class, but I got used to the playstyle and loved the versatility. It took me a long time to figure out why I didn’t have a weapon swap. After several months I quit the game because the pve had a bunch of bugs and the endgame was lacking and I wasn’t a huge fan of pvp.
After a while I came back to the game with some friends, and since they were starting from the bottom I made a new char as well, my ele. Ele has a lot of versatility like engineer, and also has decent mobility with ride the lightning, blink, burning retreat, etc. Leveling as D/D ele is still some of the most fun I’ve had in the game. Still no weapon swap though.
I’ve played most of the classes now, but I still play engineer and elementalist way more than the others. If you like ele then honestly I think engineer is also a good fit in terms of playstyle. If you’re not into the no-magic combat then maybe you wouldn’t agree though =P
I main ele, and almost exclusively use her in PvE at the moment. But I have 4 classes i like for PvP!! I like ele when I play support, reaper when I wanna go hybrid(been playing a viper build), reveneant when I want a powerful bruiser(I use a paladin build) and mesmer when I feel like playing something fun and tricky!!
Hey all just to update I went with revenant, thanks for all the information all!
Ele I’m clearly the best at out of all the classes I play. I can do things with it and know it front to back, survive things my party don’t even think is possible and generally it’s an amazing class which can do nearly everything you could ever want it to do.
Engineer I always felt was a bit similar too.
Personally though I’ve always liked the idea of mesmer, tricking foes and punishing them for getting the wrong one or their mistakes. It’s a shame it sucked so much for PvE and even now unless you play a specific support build (max 1 per 5 people) then you have no place at all in any PvE taken even remotely seriously.
Mesmer is more fun in PvP/WvW but playing power builds has certainly become harder since HoT. Much more passive stability, stun breaks, reveal and cheap mechanics that can get you killed easily with little effort.
If Mesmer had a much more viable DPS build I would split my time more evenly between it and ele but right now, ele is just so so so much better for nearly everything than my mesmer.
1. Ele.
2. Thief/Daredevil
3. Engi.
I like active combat and mobility.
