So will weaver receive a buff?
If I had to guess I’d say no, at least not yet. Elementalist has for many years been considered the best at everything, and even if that’s not necessarily true I think they are probably a bit worried about overtuning the spec from day one. Truth be told, without the ability to properly test it’s hard for us to know exactly where Weaver is at. Many people think it’s weak, but others feel differently. Once more time is available in September and extensive testing is able to be done – for both PvE and PvP – then the community will either embrace or reject it and hopefully they’ll buff if necessary then.
Melee in general cant be glass canons. The only “true” melee who is glass in gw2 would be thf or mez but they are very much able to stealth. Weaver will never be that true glass canon melee ideal with out stealth. Best to not think about it as one.
It should get some casting buffs (faster cast of sword skill mainly or at least clean up) it may see high barror to its burst skill and maybe a cdr to the recharges of its stances.
Over all it should be getting a for sure buff when they add barror to core ele as well other effects. We should be seeing reaper do less condi dmg due to scurege being the condi set up for necro.
That being said there a lot of skills that are a bit over preforming on other classes i can see them getting cut downed as well as some dmg effects from weave doing a bit to low.
Its best to be weak in a bate or nearly balanced then op as we see with scurges doing 7kish tick on burning and torment.

I am hopeful for barrier, scepter and dual skill buffs. Barrier decays to fast for a small effect need its numbers tweaked. Scepter is suppose to be eles burst weapon but weaver really messes that up. Dual skills are suppose to be worthwhile to use but they are not. Dual skills do alot of things so I can understand them having balance issues. Weavers are giving up swapping attunements at will for dual skills so they should be more powerful.

If the devs want to sell PoF badly they’ll probably buff it to the extreme. Then they’ll gradually nerf random things over the subsequent months just like with HoT.
NO, i dont want stealth in ele.
Condition wise it seems good, also it does have better defenses than tempest and ele, a trait which gives extra hp withouth sacrificing damage and another trait to cleanse conditions that maybe will require some tweaks.
But i tried power and it is lacking, at least in sword, sure they have extra ferocity with a trait when fully attuning into an element, but that doesnt work well with the mechanic of dual attuning. also weaver stances dont benefit power builds.
But what im sure is that weaver is totally diferent from ele and tempest, it really feels like i have never played an elementalist in my life, it is like the offspring of an ele with an engineer with the engineering kits.
Barrier I think is fine, the problem with weaver isn’t the defensives, it’s more so the pressure (which is another form of a defensive) offensively… I saw very little of that in my testing and dueling with top eles over and over. Even with marauder I didn’t see this from weaver.
Sword has a massive chain , not allowing proper attunement swapping to make weaver effective so dagger will obviously be used here.
Also, the dmg is so low I could barely pressure and dueling top eles on it , we all had that same consensus.
You can make weaver work in a bunker support spec , but Tempest already did this well which leaves little to no QoL improvements except having a slightly better bunker support spec (PvP obviously and zerg play).
Again, it IS such a small period to test but also there will be adjustments across ALL classes not just weaver so it’s better to do actual testing once PoF comes out to see.
I think obviously the idea of weaver is great , i just hope some of those aspects get looked at.
It definitely needs a buff in PvP.
Ele has not had a truly viable DPS spec in PVP for a long time. If not now, when?
Change the last change from all autos from 3/4 to 2/4
Buff air 2 range from 450 to 600 (can’t make any z axis teles)
Buff fire 2 power impact damage and buff range to 600
Water/earth add projectile finisher
Unravel hexes removes all condis at a 1 sec interval (so your not forced into water/arcane)
Remove root from sword earth #3 (or buff damage)
After fully attuning the attunement cd swap time is halfed(fully attuning punishes way to hard)
I fooled around with the idea of insta double attuning but that breaks the design of weaver and it dumbs down the class.
Bye friends!
Change Unravel to cleanse a condi every second. Then make double attuning mean something so good that having a stance for it would be OP! But really, a utility that literally turns you back into a base ele for a few seconds is a kittenty idea and you know it. Ele also lacks decent condi cleanse utilities. Cleansing Fire is on a huge CD and Signet of Water is…awful! Make Weaver that spec you should run to combat condis. Tempest and base ele can run Water for their condi defence, but Weaver shouldn’t also be forced into Water because you don’t know how to balance conditions. Let us actually spec into Air or Fire or something other than Water!
It definitely needs a buff in PvP.

Ehh, Scepter/Focus Fresh Air is still pretty good.

Yeah…I’ve been playing that build again and I feel like I should retract my statement. But as fun as it is, IMO I think it’s still too high risk, especially given how easily other classes can run Marauder or even Zerker ammys.
I think Weaver is definitely going to need sword buffs if sword is supposed to be viable for PvE. At the moment, it’s strongly inferior to dagger for condition and staff for power, and it doesn’t look like going hybrid with Grieving is going to make up the difference.
That said, I definitely wouldn’t expect that beta weekend numbers are going to be the same as release numbers at all, and I hope that sword will get some number buffs by release.

On weaver Fresh Air does not work well
I’d wish they put non-elite shield specialization for ele

‘’Gain a damage bonus for a period of time when attuned to a single element. Gain ferocity based on a percentage of your power. ’’
This means that you get the ferocity either way.

Engi main herr who loves 3+ kit rotations. That’s why I’m in love with weaver and was more keen on trying it out that holosmith. Can’t wait to test weaver again when it finally comes out
I remember tempest getting buffed/changed quite a bit after the preview for HoT specs. We’ll see. Weaver doesn’t feel so good now, yeah some people are going to make it work in some ways but it doesn’t seem ready at all. Ele in general really seems to be a mess now, either support bunker (boring build in pvp everyone knows for the past 2-3 years?), or you’re fresh air dps and really just spamming a gimmick cooldown more than doing any real interesting gameplay. RIP ele of launch.
