I get it, Fire is really damage-heavy and the others are a little more support-y…
But something that really bothers me is that Fire, and depending on the weapon/build Earth, juts seem significantly better than the other elements in general.

Water is for healing, but the damage it deals is needlessly low even considering that. Air is even worse, it seems to be meant for direct damage mostly like Fire is, but is very noticeably much weaker even at a cursory glance. Air on S/x and Staff I wouldn’t even really call usable because their damage is a fraction of what Fire and even Earth can do.

I don’t really understand what their thinking is- is there something I’m missing?

Ye, you’re missing that it’s not only about dealing damage.

No, I’m not missing that. I’m talking about damage in conjunction with support, which I clearly outlined in the post. Nice try at being helpful though.

You might be missing trait synergies or damage stats on your gear. Without listing your build, there’s not much room for people to give advice.

Short answer: yes, you are missing something, but I’m not sure what.

Hats off to all the ones who stood before me, and taught a fool to ride.

If your not running at least 15 in water and 30 in arcane with the V and XI traits then yeah I could see why staying in just fire could be tempting assuming your only doing easy pve content.

I’m confused. Yes, you said you understood the other were support’y but then proceeded to compare them based on dps and concluded they were weak based on dps. The others are definately not weak when compared on non dps factors. I can not be in combat for long before I need the heals, cripples, freezes, knockdowns etc. in the other attunements. I don’t know any elementalist who survives based on fire dps and dodges alone in a tough battle with multiple opponents.
