It is…im sitting here feeling like meh do I really wanna log in right now? It was a fun playstyle that i simply loved

Staff got nerfed, it´s still viable though.
But the main thing this did is that s/d or d/d is now downright better in most cases.

I’m sitting here feeling exactly the same, I used my cleric gear + basic healing support build for dungeons and loved it thoroughly.
Even my D/D build with Knight/Valkyrie gear is nerfed now with the stealthnerf to leap finishers no longer triggering traits and no more might stacking via evasive arcane to be able to hit for something.
Now I just keep reloading the forums praying for a Dev to answer that they might reverse it. Might not log on tomorrow to play, so disheartened atm it’s unreal. My whole build blown to bits :\
Not saying staff isn’t viable but the playstlye got much harder (I mean one blast with long cast its kind of overkill) even I know this and I have been D/D since I started ele. TBH our nerfs were likely the biggest this patch (Beside the S/D nerf and dancing dagger nerf for thief)
@Froze Steel Lower that fist a lil and raise just one finer (you choose) you will feel a lil better. All joking aside all we can do is adapt and hope for the best.

They were nerfed too, but not nearly as much, hence better. They still have a few other options for blast finishers, but more importantly, they have more viable builds than combo finishers.

Nowadays you just can´t make a staff build that´s better for example in solo pve than a let´s say d/d build.

If Staff elementalists that love self-combos haven’t been using Earth and Arcane skills to interact with their own fields, then this is a perfect time to learning how to do so.
Seriously, I understand that Evasive Arcana was the god-tier of all traits, to the point that a single bug fix to a single trait can make an entire staff userbase melt in exaggerated drama, but there’s more life to Staff than a single trait.

Eruption→switch to fire→lava font on eruption→roll into it with AE→cast arcane wave
This combo SHOULD give me 9 stacks of might, or 10 with elemental attunement, assuming AE triggered and not on 10 second CD
Try this in game, it’s not happening, I only get 7 stacks of might if I do that combo.
Either Anet stuffed another skill fix or it’s an intentional stealth nerf.

My point wasn’t that we can no longer combo. My point is that we have little incentive to run forward and join the melee as a staff elementalist now. When we make the earth/fire combo, only those in melee get the buff. Whereas the D/D eles already are in melee, so when they damage the enemy, they get their own buff.
So basically, if we want to buff ourselves, we have to give up 2 damage spells to do so. Which is a bit hefty for only 3 might on ourselves.
