So it seems clear that each specialization will be a merging of two current professions. So far we have:

-Chronomancer = Mesmer +Necro
-Dragonhunter= Guardian + Ranger

For starter I’m happy that is not ele to get traps (thx god), the two professions mechanic that I’m not very fond of, can be taken out of the loop, so what are we left with?

-??? = Ele+Thief
-
??? = Ele+Warrior
-??? = Ele+Guardian
-
??? = Ele+Mesmer
-????? = Ele+Engineer

Make your bet! I’ll go for Ele+Thief : stealth burst air spike ele anyone???

The DnD ele can do everything except stealth.

We have

-AOE : heals/damage/cc
-single/cone arc damage heal/burn/damage
-auras
-prot
-fury
-self stability
-the list goes on

Possible -

shout
stealth

Anets focus -

Build diversity + Group play enhancement

What ever they call us, i can guarantee it will not be “awesome”

Nothing about the Chronomancer has anything to do with Necromancers other than the fact that they share Wells as a skill family. The Wells don’t even behave the same way. There isn’t likely to be anything meaningful behind describing an elite spec as a ‘combination’ of classes.

Its either going to be bursty stuff, or melee combat aka tanky type stuff.
So warrior or thief is my best guess, but if it’s thief, dont expect stealth

Sword is most used across professions as a high mobility weapon with flurry attacks and evades.
Tempest seems to be going that way. Mobility (leaps and maybe teleports), flurry attacks and evades.
Probably lower range than dagger, but higher dmg in fewer tgts (frontal cleave, no pbaoe), auto-attack chains and some soft cc (cripples and imobs)

So a bit like thief Sword, I’d say…

Teleport. My ele got excited. But we also have LF which is kinda like teleport. WOuld be awesome to have group LF.

I will say this when speculating the specializations go back to Prophecies and look at the original four Devona Cynn Aidan and Eve then look at Eye of the North combinations it may be a hint

Shoutmentalist:
Healing-“Potions!”- shout to heal instantly.
Utility-“Poke!” – shout to taunt enemy.
Utility-“Ball!” – increase outgoing aoe dmg and decrease incoming aoe dmg.
Utility-“Lure?#!” – when noone allies around you gain stab and resistance to safely come back with bunch of enemies to your mates.
Elite-“Ones never should stop” – your next tree attacks works as shadowsteps, affected enemies can’t shadowstep for period of time.

Acrobatomentalist:
Healing-Get down – you get down it is counts as 0.1s doge but more fancy and the lowest healing cd in game.
Utility- Star – you make star – its count dodge, its strafe so you don’t turn your face away from enemy.
Utility- Surfer – you can catch enemy wave-working-like skills to use it to travel, counts as dodge.
Elite- One never should stop – you shadowstep 3 times where you want, 900 range, for next 15s after last shadowstep you can freely choose to what checkpoint you want to go (with starting point is 4 checkpoints).

Cagementalist:
You invoke cage, when enemy steps in he is prisoned inside.
Healing- invoke cage that prision enemy inside, he receive skill1 to break out. When invoke heal insta you, when triggered aoe blast heal.
Sands cage- invoke up to 3 sand cage, when enemy step he is buried and receive skill1 to break out. He receive dmg as long as in cage.
Grave cage- invoke cage, when enemy step he is locked in earth block and recieve skill1 to break out, other enemies can destroy it too. He gaint 2stacks of bleed per second. When leave/break out get slow.

I think that enemies in cage will not receive dmg from other sources than cage and conditions, cuz they lost skills for skill1 while in cage. They must not also by affected by allies heals, cleanses, boons.

Trait to remove boon per second in cage would be nice or transfer allies around cage.

What about Ele+Revenant? We could get something like legends, utility sets with no cd but mana management instead, based on human gods (although lore wise it wouldnt fit with all the races). Fire/Balthazar, Air/Dwayna, Earth/Melandru, Water/Grenth, Arcane/Lyssa.

There are many posibilities to bring call legends, but even if those aren’t as epic as shiro or glint, many people attached to their henchmens and would like to see them. Yes, definitely we can call them past elementalist heroes. Legends obstacle when heroes comes.

the possible sword skills have already been datamined. fire auto will provide 10endurance when hit. air has pretty much same skills as dagger, but has a high hitting attack in place of shocking aura. water has lots of skills for vulnerabilty infliction. earth has some type of projectile damage. its almost identical to dagger, but has more offensive skills.

its too early to tell though. looks like they are using dagger mainhand skills as a base, but the sword so far seems more offensive in nature. if we are going to play like thieves i think we will get tricks. mesmers will be mantra. warriors we would get stances.

I’m honestly not sure about the whole combining professions thing. The Mesmer getting wells doesn’t REALLY make it closer to a Necro… Although the Dragonslayer does seem Rangery. I think that the specialization for Ele will probably be relatively mobile and short range, going from the sound of ‘Tempest’. Not tanks, maybe bursty though. Maybe Axe or Warhorn as weapon?

I’d say the Tempest is a swordsman ele that can use attacks like:
Fire attunement would have movements like ranger sword, might stacking no distance closing attacks like dagger and some fire fields to stack burn to chain with fire grab.

Water attunement would resemble thief sword sword/dagger evasion movements low damage, regen and very light evade.

Air attunement would be like Mesmer movements with sword, blinds and quick attacks, following with a 2-3 second channeling attack for critical damage.

Earth attunement will resemble warrior sword with lots of short duration cripples/ bleed stacks and if we are lucky an attack that applies weakness.

And as for the elite I bet it will be like the thieves Dagger Storm but it spams light conditions like blinds, bleeds, burns, chills and stuns every 2.5 seconds lasting like 8 seconds. It will be a viable version of Tornado but less damage and no knockdown. Cool down let say 90 seconds. Designed to hinder but not destroy foes, grants stability and 33% movement speed. Kind of like a soft get out of jail free card.

But if I have my way she’d fight like Aika in Zetsuen No Tempest. I think the movement of Aika as the Mage of Exodus pretty much is how sword should feel and flow for an elementalist.

I hope for something similar, but not with stealth skills. I much rather we have a good number of teleport. It would be nice to move across the field doing damage than being sneaky like.

I want Tempest to be the build you swoop in dropping left and right leaving a path of destruction rather than the “where did he go” style.

I don’t play my ele often. But if they did something like this it could become my new main.
